I've posted this earlier in a different thread last month, but since so many people have been asking for it, I decided it would be a good idea to start a brand new thread, so that it's easier for people to find.

For those who see [][][][][] whilst playing on SEA, install this WoT fontpack:

http://www.mediafire...l2irzqc2y4lm2ry

You'll see proper writing instead. Those who install English-language clients won't be able to view Thai, Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese, Korean and Japanese, but they will all display properly after installing this font. This fontpack also supports German umlauts, Cyrillic (Russian, Ukrainian, etc), but not Greek.

Files go in World_of_Tanks\res\gui\flash. Three files should be overwritten; backup existing files if you decide you might wanna return to the original font. Alternatively, you can restore the original font by choosing any non-English language using the WoT launcher/updater within the drop-down language menu, and then choosing English again. This fontpack does not affect voice sounds or user interface language - everything will still remain in English, or whatever your original game client language was.

For those who understand Thai/Chinese/Korean/whatever, you can now understand what is being said, whilst still keeping an English-locale client. For those who don't, this font is helpful to distinguish who is actually on your team - in other words, stop blaming (nationality) here, it could be someone else completely different who needs carrying on your team. [][][][][] doesn't actually tell you where they're from, and it's annoying when people always blame a certain nationality. I've come across games where people in the chat complain "OMG THAIS waaah, stoopid box speaking peoples", when people are actually typing in Korean.

It's like adding rear spoilers to the back of your Holden Commodore. All the cool kids are doing it, and so should you.

Box or unknown language, doesn't really matter does it?

It means you can now use the correct demonym whilst you're complaining, as your team is losing 3-14.

Jokes aside, it's a useful identification feature, even though you don't speak the language. Personally, I don't understand Thai either.

Good stuff! Thanks for sharing - even if I can't read these languages (yet), it's better than looking at boxes.

Does downloading all the localization packs via WoT launcher work as well?

I quite like the boxes, its an easy way to identify someone who I know will do nothing for the match and I should avoid going with them anyway possible

Not to mention their comments are rarely going to be of much use. It saves checking their win rate.

Solution? Where is the problem?

Seeing boxes on your team notifies you of an impending loss. It saves the shock.

In all fairness some rahab bloke starting boxing the other day. It was a bit of a shock as normally those guys stick to english if they say anything at all.

Not all of the localizations support all kinds of text.

For example, the Simplified Chinese font doesn't support Traditional Chinese or Korean, and kind of ruins the German umlauts in crew names; the Japanese font doesn't support Simplified Chinese or Korean, and the Korean font doesn't support Thai.

The one I have supplied supports everything listed in the OP.

A strange game. The only way to win is to not play turn on the chat.
