Here are some World of tanks abbreviation & meanings so all you new players can understand stuff:

555: Ha Ha Ha (Thai i think) (Botek9).
A.F.K.:Away from keyboard. So not participating in battle.(GeraDoga)
A.P.: Armor Piercing. Standard shell type available for almost all guns in game.
A.P.C.R.: Armor Piercing Composite Rigid. Premium shell type available for most guns in game.
A.T.M: at this moment (Lightsaber)
Alpha: how much damage your tank does. (BlueManX)
Alpha: the amount of damage in a single hit, or refers to a high-damage, slow-firing gun. (boxtosser)
Arty: Artillery. Vehicle class in World of tanks.
B.R.B: Be right back, more often used in clan, TC and platoon chat. (bashotokoro)
BatChat/BatSplat - the bat chatillon 25t.(the first means the medium tank, the second the T8 arty). (Schnaufer)
Bathtub/tub - nickname for the S35 CA Tank Destroyer (Schnaufer)
C.B: Counter Battery- the process by which someone uses the tracers of an enemy artillery's fire to deduce their location and kill it without spotting it. (triton)
C.W.:Clan Wars. A browser based version of World of Tanks (GoofyGobber)
Camo: Camouflage, the value in World of Tanks that determines how easily spotted your vehicle is. (Slurpy)
Campinovka: Malinovka. (Mttspiii)
Cap: Initiate the capture of the enemy base. (bonta)
Cap: Used for abbreviating "Capture". To capture an enemy base. To defend, not allow capture. (General534)
Cap: short for capturing the base (boxtosser)
Cap Circle: The large circle around the flag, once in side the circle the base is starting to be capped; captured. (General534)
Circle of Death: Circling an enemy tank because your mobility exceeds their turrets traverse rate. Commonly done by lights, but can also be done by mediums.  (Tenshi_Hinanai)
Crit: short for critical hit (boxtosser)
DPM or DPS: damage of a tank gun per minute, a high DPM tank/gun fires low damage shots, but with fast reload, which is the opposite of a high alpha gun. (boxtosser)
Def/Base: in chat - short for defend the base, usually means the enemy is capping and someone needs to rush back and defend. (boxtosser)
Derp/Derp gun: A high caliber gun that is very inaccurate & is best for shooting HE shells (for example the KV's 152mm)
Dracula: GW Panther, T6 Arty. (Firescout)
Duck: AMX 40, termed so due to its strangle look. (iamshadow).
E2- M4A3E2 Jumbo Sherman, USA Tier 6 MT (Monoceros).
Easy 8: M4A3E8, T6 Medium for the US line (Firescout).
F.T.W: For The Win (Lightsaber)
F.Y.I.: For Your Information (General534)
Facehug: Where a tank gets so close to an enemy tank, they are hull to hull. This position favours those with strong turrets. (Schnaufer)
Ferdy: Ferdinand T8 TD for the Germans. (Firescout.)
Flank: Move to shoot the side/rear of an enemy tank. (Slurpy).
Focus Fire: Focusing your fire on a single enemy tank to remove them from battle ASAP. (r00st3r)
G.G.:Good Game. Something players say at the end of battle.(TheBestAround)
G.H.:Good hunting.Something else that can be said at the beginning of battle(but is not often said)(crushingdestroyer)
G.J (Or gj): Good job (bashotokoro)
G.L.D.:Gun Laying Drive. A piece of equipment that can be mounted on majority of tanks to reduce aim time (a very good idea for artillery)
G.L. H.F.: Good Luck Have Fun. Something majority of mature players say before a match starts to the opposing team(and theirs)
GF:Good Fight(FreeFOXMIKE)
GK:Good Kill (FreeFOXMIKE)
Glass Cannon: Something with a lot of firepower but little to no protection. (BlueManX)
Gold/Firing gold: Firing premium (APCR or HEAT) rounds in a pub battle. (BlueManX)
Grinding: Playing the same tank time and time again in an effort to reach the next tank in the tree. (Potoroo)
H.E.: High Explosive. A standard shell type available(to my knowledge) for every gun in game.
H.E.A.T.: High Explosive Anti Tank. Premium shell available for mainly Howitzers and artillery guns only.
Hotchkiss: German Tier 2 premium (Pz38H35) not a machinegun(GofyGobber)
Hull Down: Hiding your hull behind an obstacle or hill and only showing your turret. (r00st3r)
I.G.: In Game. Self explanatory
I.M.O: in my opinion (Lightsaber)
IGN: In game name.
IMBA: Imbalanced. (IJeffI)
JP: Jagdpanther, German T7 TD. A II after JP (JP II) refers to the Jagdpanther II, the T8 TD of the Germans. (saharas)
JT: Jagdtiger. The German T9 TD. (Saharas)
Jeep - nickname for the T82 Tank destroyer (Schnaufer)
K.P.H.: Kilometers per Hour (General534)
K.T.: King Tiger. Tier 8 German heavy tank.
KM/H: Kilometers per Hour (General534)
KS: Kill steal (not really applicable in WoT because experience and credits are awarded for damage, not kills.) (iamshadow).
L.O.L.: Laugh Out Loud (General534)
LOLtrakker: Leichtrakker. Tier 1 German light tank.
Lemming Rush: The movement of most of the team down a single flank, leaving all others exposed. (Bonta)
Leo: Leopard T4 light tank for the Germans. (Firescout.)
Light them: A light tank to spot tanks by doing an active scouting movement. (JagdDrache).
M.M.:Matchmaker. The thing you see when you hit battle. Notoriously bad.(sometimes) (GoofyGober)
Mini Maus: Pz38H35 premium tank (BlueManX)
N.P.: No Problem (General534)
N.V.M.:Never mind.(crushingdestroyer)
NS: Nice shot. (101stAirborneDivision).
Newb: Someone who is merely good at the game, and therefore has a limited understanding of it, but is acceptable given how long they have been playing it. Not typically used as an insult. (Triton).
Noob: Someone who is deemed to be bad at the game. (Triton)
O.P. Over Powered. Something that conspiracy theorists think the Russian tanks are.(Kensei) or Original Poster (theChosen)
O.T.W: On the way, commonly used to alert a teammate support is enroute. (bashotokoro)
P1 or P2:Panther 1 and 2. German T7&8 mediums(iamablocker)
PUG: Pick up groups: See Pub games (amade)
Pen: Penetrate, penetration. Penetrates a tank's armor. (General534)
Penned: Penetrated a tank's armor. (General534)
Pub games: Public games, often used in a negative term due to the lack of co-ordination often found in them. (Amade)
Push: to move up one or more areas of the map (boxtosser)
QQ or qq: Crying (Lightsaber)
R.O.F.L.: Roll (Around) on Floor Laughing (General534)
R.O.F: Rate of fire. (PhattyChicken).
Racked: The explosion of a tank's ammo rack after being shot. The resulting explosion removes what health the tank has (even all of it). (Addicter).
Ram: Known for when a tank "rams" into another tank, damaging the rammee. (General534)
Rammer:Gun rammer. A piece of equipment that can be mounted on majority of tanks to reduce load time.(Kensei)
Reset: Reset the counter of the friendly base, by doing damage to an enemy capper. (JumpingJezza)
School Bus: SU-14, Russian SPG. (firescout).
Splash: Not only with artillery, when any tank damages the victim without hitting the tank, but missing; hitting the ground beside the victim. (General534)
Splash: blast radius on arty shells, when a arty shell damages a target by near-missing. (boxtosser)
Suicide Scout: When a light tank rushes to the enemy base as fast as possible at the very beginning of the game, in order to spot as many enemy tanks as possible before dying. (boxtosser)
T.C: Tank Company. (MadManInAnOzzieTank)
T.D.: Tank Destroyer. A vehicle class in world of tanks.
T.K.:Team kill/er someone who kills someone on their team(iamamablocker)
T.Q: Thank you. (bashotokoro)
Tracked: When a track is blown off, not when you are followed. (Savannah Jack)
V.G.G.: Very Good Game (General534)
Vader turret - The turret of the Pz 4 Schmalturm. (Schnaufer)
Vents:Improved Ventilation. A piece of equipment that can be mounted on majority of tanks to increase the crew preformance.(Kensei)
Vert Stab: A piece of equipment that can be mounted on majority of tanks to decreases the amount of aim dispersion caused by tank/turret motion.(Kensei)
W.A.R.: Wet Ammo Rack. A piece of equipment that can be mounted on majority of tanks to increase ammo rack durability.
W.o.T.:World of tanks.
Wallet Warrior: Someone driving a T8 premium tank with very little experience in the game. (BlueManX)
o/: Hoorah (Lightsaber)
o7: Salute




If i think of any more or you tell me some more i'll be glad to post them with your name next to it to show you told/reminded me of it.

And 1 more thing, if you take away the S in shell you get hell and with good reason.

brb = be right back (not use in the in-game chat but maybe will be used in general chat, platoon chat, clan chat)

o7 may mean salute in the ordinary way. But its used by the PVP clan members.
Whenever you see o7 in the game, its a PHP clan member greeting a fellow member.

And here's a few more :-
CB - counter battery. used by arty players to kill enemy artys by spotting their tracers.

Pub(lic) games i.e. random battles, as opposed to Tank Companies or Clan War battles.

Alternatively called PUG (pick up group) games.
