Got the FV 183 and have 100+- games on it.

I can say that HESH is unreliable and should only be used when the situation calls for it.

Trust me. 25 secs is long to just reload a HESH round, so it's not good if you've got HESH in your barrel and are up against a Maus or E100. I roll my 183 with 6 AP and 6 HESH and ace tankered it with around 8k+ dmge.

AP is more reliable IMO, and HESH should only be loaded when you see a very squishy target. But even at those times, HESH can still screw you over, like shooting a batchat for only 700 dmge.

LOL, My FV4202 shoot HESH on side of batchat done only 136 dmg .  Since that incident....I never used HESH anymore.

Give it maus-like front armor and a supercharged engine so it can still do damage while reloading

Hmmm I borrowed the bosses account and yeah Hesh is just like HE, excellent vs light armour, he also has 6 AP and 6Hesh as the load out.
Either way its hard not to get a reaper, or to hurt a tank so bad they run away. (this server players run from the enemy alot I've noticed)
I'm going to have to grind one after the games i played in it.   And yes, having only 12 shots or 6 minutes of game time ensures to pick your shots.
in my 1st battle I did 8k damage and then spent the rest of the game relying on the scrubs to finish the game.
They failed yet all the hard to kill tanks were FUBAR'D by me, or killed.......awesome fun playing pub matches....
Nothing to see here, Move along, Move along...

Did u ever encounter 3 fv 183s in a platoon? Is it scary or a joke? Just wondering... (^_^)
I have. long story: I was platooning with a t21 light tank, and because it had scout matchmaking, I was driving my AT 2 and got put in a tier 10 battle. Then on the enemy team i saw 3 fv215b 183s in a platoon. We lost the game.

I don't know.. I always, ALWAYS load full HESH on my 183. Yeah.. it's pricey (8k per ammo). Just need to know where to aim. When a tank is giving it's side, dont aim the body, aim the turret (if can). The track usually will soak up damage. That's why you see the damage came out only about 300 - 800.
Hope I didn't get you angry, Princess. I don't want Twily or Shining to come to Sweet Apple Acres and punch me in the face.
By the way, hope you don't get angry if I promote my video here. It's related anyway

Yeah. Low ROF, so full HESH is highly recommended. I once dealed 7k2 damg with 4 shots in a 4-shot-battle :) Believe or not, it's up to you!

Hmm here are my thoughts on the 183 after just a shy 100+ battles on it.
-It is a harsh, delicate unforgiving mistress, you really need to be alert on this thing, map awareness and good positioning. You are a glass cannon.
-Gun depression is literally non existent on this thing.
-I've never got 0 damage using HESH rounds( highest damage i got was one shooting an IS8 lawls).
-I always carry only 2 HESH rounds with me because i find AP to be more reliable.
-If possible, always have a T62A with you or two meds to provide cover fire when you are reloading if you decide to go close range( city maps).
However for me, the most important rule when using this tank is ALWAYS HAUL ASS after you fired a shot. Your armour is comparable to the French Heavies and once your spotted, you basically have 8/10 nails in your coffin already hehe.
But yea overall I love the 183 and playing it in randoms even if it is costing me and I am not running a premium account.(even when i win).
The reason i got the 183 and it may be the dumbest reason is because i think it looks so freaking sexy. At that time when i set my heart to get it I had almost no idea what it can and can't do. :D cheeers

For those who said FV183 needs AP more than HESH - Stop it! Why?

With terrible low ROF, bounced shots will kill your patience and you will make mistake in aiming; 2nd bounced, you'd die! But HESHs... never bounce, and your enemies - "could be killed in the next shot" is the strongest power force them backward; you and your team'd have more time to rearrange the situation.

Secondly, with less than 300 battles, your feeling on this beast isn't strong enough to gain perfect ~2k shots (I didn't mention lucky one). After 500 battles, its truly an addiction :)

I've played FV183 1k7 battles, WR 58% and aprx damage/battle ~2k6 FYI :)

Load full HESH is your best advise, believe me!

i carry 10 hesh 2 ap. So far ive one shotted a 121 and smacked an E4 frontally for 1970 hp.

The key is to never shooting at tracks. Aim for armour plates everytime and expect 1500+ dmg rolls. Ive hit a couple of MAUS's for 1500+ frontally too. But i got xp from the Fv4202 with the use of hesh.

Forever duelling with pistols for Reaps hat collection.

Also just for Feet

very much so,

never ever fire HESH rounds (which is just an HE rounds for all intent and purpose) at tracks

doesn't matter if his side armor is 10mm thick NEVER FIRE IT at the tracks unless you literally ran out of better options

tracks like all spaced armor cuts HESH damage by half BEFORE it even counts for the damage mitigation from distance (track distance from the hull) and the shell's penetration capability

always hit the uncovered hull... any kind of spaced armor is to be avoided at all cost as they automatically means half damage.

on Batchat for example shooting the turret is FAR safer with HESH since there's only 1 part on the turret with spaced armor and that's the tiny mantlet around the gun, it's therefore virtually guaranteed to hit for full damage of HESH if you smack the turret.

whereas on the HULL there's the track and half of the side hull has spaced armor on the rear half making it a dicey proposition to target it with HESH, you hit any of these and you are going to be getting disappointing damage output.
