We need YOU to speak English in our General Chat!
#1 Posted 25 October 2013 - 05:47 PM
As you may have noticed, the Asia Cluster has grown incredibly fast throughout the past year or so. Our expansions to regions like Taiwan and Japan have made it possible for people from a wide range of cultures to come together and play their favourite game.
Of course, it is no surprise that people are bound to speak in their own languages from time to time. But while we are sure that talking to friends in a local language makes for a better experience for some, we would also like to remind them that as a global community, it is important that we respect each other by speaking in a common language that all can understand.
That’s why we would like all non-Native English speakers to help by only using English in our General chat room, because it shows mutual respect for people in other countries.
However, we also want our non-native english speaking friends to feel at home. if you wish to speak in your local tongue with others from your country, we want to encourage you to do so, either by creating or joining private or public chat channels.
System notifications will also be set up to redirect you to premade channels if they are too hard to find.
At the same time, we would also like to turn towards our Native English speakers for a bit of assistance.
Yes, we know that sentences in yet another local language and rows of boxes get tiresome after a while, and it’s hard to communicate with them sometimes.
But please try to be tolerant with our friends in other countries, and they will do the same.
As long as everyone contributes in their own small manner, our chat rooms will be a great place to hang out for everyone in our community.
We at Wargaming would like to take this opportunity to apologise for the inadequacies in our chat system, and to thank all of you for the help, support and patience.
