I'm hesitating about getting the Mini-Derp, 85 or 57 xD

85mm for me, It's the best compromise. The 57 is like a Churchills machine gun but tough to play with if there are tanks of higher tier than you. It's great if you are the top tank though. It's the most accurate of the 3.
The derp... slow reload, inaccurate at longer ranges... good if against heavies at closer ranges but with the slow reload a bit risky- may get flanked.

Derp - Best out of three fun factor wise
57 - Drive a T-34 to enjoy the gun in it full glory
85 - Most consistent, it can still pen high tier but you will have to flank them.

The 57mm's fun to shoot when you have a 100%+ crew and a rammer.  Takes less than 3 secs to reload and is darned accurate.  You'll have to hit weak points in the enemy armor to be effective though.  But the confusion it deals out to the enemy due to your rate of fire is awesome!  It's great for sniping and cover fire but don't expect to one-shot anything.

With the 57mm, aim for the rear portion of the enemy tank if possible on side and rear end shots.  The armor is thinner there.  On frontal shots, try hitting the lower glacis, the area between the turret and the hull, or near the top edge of the turret.  Don't shoot at the center portion on frontal shots since that's the thickest part of the tanks.  Also, don't use HE rounds since it won't work on anything except the lightest tanks.

The 85mm packs a good punch but still lacks a bit of penetration on Tier 7 tanks' frontal armor.  You have to aim it carefully at the weak spots to be effective on the higher tier tanks but it's great on Tier 6 and lower tanks.

The 122mm Derp gun sucks, in my opinion.  Takes forever to reload and can't pen much.  But if you can get a shot at the rear of any tank, it'll really hurt...    :)    Just be sure you can run and hide if you don't kill him because your next shot isn't coming anytime soon...

Hope this helps!    :D

85mm for sure.

Derp may be able to one-shot many lower-tier med tanks and below, but against heavily-armored targets their armor absorb away the damage and 2-digit damages are common. The actual DPM you get with this gun in practice is too low to use KV-1 as an effective frontline tank. I've been stopped by a Hetzer because I couldn't damage it faster than it can to me.

57 was fun while it lasted, but even with 85mm I'm craving for more alpha.

kinda pointless since 5 seconds is a short enough reload speed

85mm for sure.  It has a huge HE shell as backup.  The 57mm has no backup, and the 122mm HE is too slow to reload and inaccurate.

I used the 85 and found it to be effective enough for me, didn't try any of the other guns though, and have since sold my KV-1. Had a few good matches in it, it can be a bit of a bully when it's top Tier.

the U-11 is possibly the WORST choice of permanent gun that you could make. its accuracy and aim time mean that you need to spend a literal age aiming, unless you sit in the same spot in ambush, then your good. However once you move, or if you rotate your turret too fast, you have to start aiming all over again. and even when you have the reticle fully zoomed in, you have to hit the tank your shooting, before you have to face the penetration roll... theres just too much that can go wrong with the 122mm U-11. thats the reason why I free EXPed past it in my  KV-1S and never played a single game with it in my KV-1

Hmnn I used it to grind past the 76mm and upgraded turret on KV-1s, I also used the equivalent derp 10.5cm in VK3601 to get its turret and 7.5cm gun. They worked just fine.

I prefer accuracy, reload, aim and penetration over alpha alone

Totally agree with you there. I'm just trying to say the gun is not so terrible and you can have some fun time derping around with it, especially when you are the top dog.

the mini derp of the KV-1 sucks, never used it...its accuracy is terrible also it takes ages to reload...

50%win rate with 300-400ping is acceptable
