When you jump into the stronghold battles mode, please make visible

number of detachments formed - by tier - and whether in battle, or in queue, or still filling.

Why make people spend 10 minutes getting a champion detachment together only to spend 5 minutes in the queue and discover noone else is running?

Yep, another good point. Another +1...

Although at the moment, we are only forming detachments based on the number of players we have available.

The only worry would be if it proved a deterrent. Eg early evening, see bugger all teams, shelve it for an hour. Repeat. Other clans doing the same.

Without an indicator you'd at least first queue up.

I'm less convinced of this idea. If the mode is really worth a damn it will work without this feature

something similar was asked for in Historical Battles, and we all know what happened there.

But yes, I agree, would be good to see detachments/tiers readied up, in queue etc.

On the other hand, if you see a few teams forming up or in battle you might be encouraged to jump in.

I find it a bigger deterrent to spend 12-15 minutes just to find out noone else is there OR not knowing whether there are a small number of teams but they are all currently in battle.

never had to wait longer than 2 min max, and that was 2nd day of s/h running.

One would assume the only way is up for this mode as clans build structures, enable bonuses, and attack eachothers strongholds? Is that what happens next? I think it will live on its own steam if WG manage the rewards properly

I see what you mean - and I agree it is more important to get the rewards properly balanced, and if successful this might be unnecessary.

This is more about getting people over that tipping point, especially for the higher tier detachments when the queues are low.

We had something equivalent with TCs and I think overall it helped.

I also think a built in cross-clan chat channel for strongholds could have merit, similar to what is there already for CW battles.

Did any of you play Travian? I suspect the strongholds' meta has been borrowed from there. In that case the skirmish battles should give the relatively small amount of resources and the main source of the building resources is the pillaging the other clans.

Maybe it could show the percentages of what tier teams are playing?

That works.

I had thought average wait times could work, but again that might unnecessarily funnel people into 6s. Really comes back to the rewards.

Actually, Thingol, I believe it's not the best idea. This could over-promote tier 6 skirmishes where the bulk of the mid-clans are over Champion (tier 8) and Absolute (tier 10) skirmishes.

I think our Clan population will find its natural balance. It it comes to that, the top clans can agree to organise a weekly Absolute Skirmish Encounter. On contrary to TC, no impact on WN8 & overall stats. Positive side: bring back some Resources at the end of the night.

here's the scenario.

We have 7 guys running a medium and a couple waiting on the sidelines.

Someone has the bright idea, lets move up to Champions.

So we reform a champ team, rope in another player, and jump into queue.

5 minutes later, after timing out, we go back to mediums.  Waste of time.

Now.

Did we time out because there are not other champs running, or, did we timeout because the few that are running are all currently in battle?  No idea.

Was there anyone else about to get a champ going that we didn't know about? No idea.

Could anyone else tell that there was a champ team (us)  waiting in the queue?  Nope.

Visibility would mean

- not wasting time forming and queuing up if nothing's gonna come of it...

- seeing if other teams are running and in battle

- seeing if anyone else is forming up too

Out of interest, how many champions did you do in the last week?

Ah

You are worried that the prospect of actually getting a match will scare people off?

What if it didn't show clan tags, just numbers?
