What goes around comes around I guess, karmic retribution.

Somehow, fighting off a tsunami with a water cannon, even if you're shooting water that just came from the tsunami itself, doesn't seem like a good move though.

That phrase should be used more often! Where do I get royalties if ever that phrase becomes a figure of speech?

How much of the JT88 do you have to hide to be able to bounce shots reliably, and how do you hide it? I'm having difficulty using it, and after a few games I realized that I can't assault with it like I do with UK's Nuffield TD's.

It depends on the team composition, if top tier and you aren't confronted with many top tier tanks just the LFP should be fine, if there are 9s and/or lots of high pen tanks then you may need to hide the UFP too, of course it depends a lot on the situation you are in, as to how to hide it, just look out for any rises in the ground or rubble and such which provides cover. Depending on its gun depression you may be able to go hull down in certain spots too.

How important are sprem rounds in pub games? I rarely, if ever, carry any, but recently I've been wondering if keeping a few in the rack would give any tangible improvement in my gameplay. There are some who spray them around all the time, but I prefer to retain some semblance of profitability, seeing as how I only have a standard account.

I find the balance between profit and losing money is so precarious that if I fire even 2 sprem rounds I'll drop into the red. Any advice on how to remedy that?

Hope is the first step on the road to disappointment.

Depends on the tank, some such as the IS-6 or T-54 benefit a lot from gold rounds, so I tend to carry more in those, but others such as the E-50 or IS-3 have enough pen that it's not as much of a concern. Generally you will want at least enough gold rounds to take down the toughest target you can potentially see. From an objective point of view, assuming you know how to be in the right place and the right time (not prosniping from the red line after the game is already lost for example) gold rounds will definitely help as you will pen more shots, leading to more damage done and less taken, and therefore better opportunities to carry, especially if you aren't top tier. Having said all that gold isn't usually a necessity, unless your tank has exceptionally low pen for its tier.

Without a premium account there isn't much you can do, other than either doing more damage (including assisted damage)with AP, or running extra games in premium tonks.

I've only gotten up to the Chi-Ri (which I haven't bought yet), aside from the tiers 1-3 crap the only one I would have skipped would be the Chi-Nu, the tier 4 light was fun enough while the tier 6 was decent, if nothing else. The Chi-Ri is almost universally disliked, but should be worth at least playing if only for the unique gun, STA-1 and the Type 61 get mixed opinions, but are probably good enough to not skip.

Or you could use Spawnster's advice which may be better, depending on how much you like/dislike low tier tanks.

Earlier tiers is good; up till tier 5. Tier 6 is when it starts feeling underpowered. Not enough bang for buck. Tier 7 is awful. Tiers 8 to 10 are to be played in full. Tier 9 is my favourite tank of all.

I can't seem to play tanks with low DPM good enough. lately I've been learning to use Pershing and T-34-85, only to achieve mediocre to not-so-good result. kinda opposite with my performance in DPM tanks (I'll take Indien-Pz. and Easy Eight for comparison, I somehow play these tanks better).

any tips?

Neither your Pershing or 34-85 have many battles, so the issues of a small sample size maybe prevalent, are they fully upgraded? The M26 isn't very good when stock, can't remember what the 34-85 is like but I imagine it wouldn't be as good as the elite E8, the key to playing the Pershing is to get as much use out of the mantlet as possible, so always try to be hull down, this means that the low-ish DPM is not so much of a problem, as you have a better chance of bouncing than any other tier 8 medium bar the Type 59, which has worse DPM.

The T-34-85 is a very stong tenk, I'd guess that your problems with it are more due to the low number of games you have played in it, play another dozen or so games and let me know if you are still struggling.

Don't forget, you can post replays here if you wish, they are one of the best ways of finding problems (and then solving them).

@storm, how many games can you play in a session before you find that your performance starts to drop off significantly (on avg)? I can normally play 10 before i start playing more horrible than normal.

Depends, I've had at least one 70% 40 game session, and many high 60% >30 game sessions, if I start playing badly in a long session it's usually because of a headache, too much [edited]RNG or bot-like pubbies doing really stupid things several games in a row.

Can the Russian MT sidescrape for a couple of shots and could the Russian MT sides get overmatched by 15-17 cm guns ?

You can try to bait them into shooing your sides at an extreme (autobounce) angle, but otherwise sidescraping is only useful in certain situations for reducing exposure (there is less tank exposed than if you poke with your front). The sides won't get overmatched because they are 80mm thick, but the T-62A has a ring beneath the turret which can be penned. Overmatch only works when the gun is at least x3 (+1)* as thick as the armour it is hitting.

The 907 is different in that it has very strange side armour, I'm not sure why but it seems to eat a lot of shots that should easily pen, though I will need more experience playing it to get a better understanding.

*For some reason somebody can't do maths, and the x3 overmatch rule only works when the gun calibre exceeds the thickness by more than x3, for example a 90mm won't overmatch the IS-6's turret roof while a 100mm will.
