Hey there, I'll be posting sketches of military-themed sketches I make.

Ambush in Surabaya

Spoiler

The battle of Surabaya was one of the deadliest battle to have been fought after the end of World War II. Fought by the Indonesian Pro-Independence soldiers and militia against British and British Indian troops, this battle marked in history that Indonesia was ready for revolution. Despite a military victory by British troops, who came in fully equipped, it was a strategic and political win by Indonesia. Thousands of Indonesian blood was poured on the streets of Surabaya, and alongside it the bodies of British and Indian soldiers. The 10th of November is remembered to this day as Hari Pahlawan, or Heroes' Day.

In the picture I drew, I pictured a Type 97 Chi-Ha, one of less than a hundred tanks captured from the then-surrendered Japanese. A majority of these were modified with captured British QF 6-Pounder anti-tank guns. The significant firepower was capable of penetrating the side of the British owned Sherman, seen on the street along with a Bren machine gunner and a rifleman. The battle may have been fought during the rainy season, and due to intensive bombing by British bombers, the city was destroyed before they even arrived.

Favorite tanks of each nation: M5 Stuart | VK 30.01(P) | Type 97 Chi-Ha | Cromwell | Type 64 | SU-85I

Main tanks of each class: Type 64 | Comet | Tiger (P) | Jagdpanther | Hummel

Meteor's Drive-By

Spoiler

This is currently something I'm working on. I've named my lov- M5 Stuart 'Meteor' for its high speed and strong force. The panzer that its 37mm round bounced off of is a PzKpfw III Ausf. N, made for infantry support as it's armed with a short-barreled 75mm KwK 37 L/42. I simply call the PzKpfw III 'No. 2', and it would be Meteor's main opponent in duels. The loader of the Pz III loaded AP, almost ripping Meteor's turret apart.

Mentari Toha

Spoiler

Mohammad Toha was an Indonesian hero, known for his actions during 'Bandung Lautan Api' or Bandung the Sea of Flames. It started when the British and Dutch forced all the Indonesians in Bandung to surrender their weapons, except police and the People's Security Army. The Indonesians obviously refused, and the British gave the ultimatum that the entire Indonesian army must leave Bandung. Outraged, the Indonesian Republic Army and more or less 200,000 citizens did 'Scorched Earth' operations, burning every single building down so that the British and Dutch could not use the city.

Mohammad Toha was responsible for destroying an Allied ammunition's bunker, along with his friend Ramdan, both sacrificing their lives. Here is a picture of Mentari Toha, a mecha musume archtype of the hero. She wears Type 97 Tracked Legs, carries a QF 6-Pounder hand cannon, a Mauser C96, a wooden shield and a bamboo spear on her back. She's known for a rather explosive personality, and will protect her comrades at any cost.

I would kill for a Chi-Ha with 6-pounder…

Other than that, nice sketches~ Keep at it!

Thanks! And yes, we had those Chi-Has in service for quite awhile. New premium tank anyone?

Its quite messy by the looks of it. But its expected with pencil sketches. I love your effort in shading it. In my case, i am just lazy to shade stuff so my sketches end up empty and barren.

You're using 2B pencil?

2B Mechanical Pencil by Faber Castell :3

Also, some of those smudges are intentional if that's what you meant. Fighting in a city that was on fire does that.

Aces of the BT

Spoiler

The BT-7 was the last variant of the BT tank series. They were produced in large numbers before and during the early years of World War II. The T-34 was the successor of this lightly armored, speedy vehicle.

This was a request by a friend for his Girls und Panzer FanFic. I enjoyed drawing the BT-7, and the crew placement was kind of puzzling.

Stuart in Africa

Spoiler

In January, 1941, the British found out the Italians were running from the British advance, or known as Operation Compass, and were retreating through Beda Fomm. With the 7th Armored Division hot on their tails using a 'flying column' that rapidly moved across the desert, the Italians had no choice but to fight back. The 10th Italian Army was cut off from the retreat, and fighting was intense, even going as far as hand-to-hand combat. It all ended on the 6th of February, when 20 M13/40 tanks broke through the thin British line, only to be stopped by AT fire.

Here is depicted an M5A1 Stuart, or known as the Stuart VI in British service, used by the Desert Rats. An American lend-lease tank, it was quite large for its class, and owned mechanical reliability which the British respected. Near it is a QF 6-pounder Mark III L/43 anti-tank gun, which was one of the mainstay gun-carriages that the British used throughout the war, also being upgraded to the Mark IV, which was longer and had a muzzle break.

One Last Effort

Spoiler

The PzKpfw III Ausf. N was the final production version of the PzKpfw III series. Armed with the first cannon the PzKpfw IV was equipped with, the 75mm KwK L/24, it became a very useful infantry support tank, and helped Tiger I units in eliminating smaller targets, while it could also continue performing in a reconnaissance role.

I couldn't think of any backgrounds except for an urban late-war French scene, so yeah. Of the few errors I made, the most noticeable are the road wheels. There should be 6, but I left one out (sorry Mr. Wheel :c)

Tiger in the Desert

Spoiler

Technically, Lueder is using a Mark IV striker here, but it's her nickname, so I don't care.
