I been thinking , LT might be a viable tank for me . What other tanks operates like the Type 64 in terms of mobility , sheer speed and rapid firing gun ?

This question applies on tier 6 and 8 , 6 for skirmishes and 8 for pub games . I can only pick one on each tier due to resource issues , I will start playing tier 8 once I feel I am getting better at driving around because a rock will crash into me whenever I drive my Type 64 .

For far this is what I interested in ,

Tier 6 - T37 , 59-16 and AMX-12t .

Tier 8 - T-54 LWT , AMX-13 90 and WZ-132 .

Light tanks reward having OP crews.
Focus on the Chinese line if you already have a Type 64.

Failing that - go American. T37 & Bulldog are the ultimate in Type 64 style pewpew

I have USSR , USA and France crews having 3 skills each while Chinese 1 skills at 99% . I can retrain them easily any time I want so I don't lack a good set of crew .

So tier 6 go for T37 but I don't want a tier 7 LT , I may need a tier 8 LT for tier 8 skirmishes purposes .

Pretty much what timwahoo(+1) said applies here.

The T37 is awesome for Stronghold skirmishes and the M41 bulldog is a great machine.

For SH the T-54L is what all the tier 8 mediums want to be but aren't (M26, T69, 416 excepted), but in pub games suffers from the serious limitations of being a scout (just compare it to the normal T-54).

13 90 is still pretty good, but the gun handling is downright terrible, once you get past that though you have the most capable tier 8 light, for both competitive and pub games.

@sabre ,
Bulldog is out of the question because I need a tier 8 lt .

@storm ,
what limitations does the t-54 lwt have ?

I don't mind firing gold shell if need be , What I want in tier 8 is acceptable accuracy , speed and smaller the tank the better .

Being a tier 8 LT, it's basically a tier 9 unless SH/CW, if you compare it to the T-54 it basically exchanges far too much of its firepower & armour for a slightly higher top speed.

Don't get me wrong, it's a good tank, but the scout mm really messes with it.

For tier 6s don't bother with the 12t, the 59-16 is quite good for SH (with the autoloader) but terrible for pubs, T37 is great, very similar to a Type 64 but trades speed to be better in a fight.

I sold my WZ 132 some time now, so I'm not sure how it hold in comparaison of similar T8 LT, but it seems for me it is outshine by RU and T54 lw.

But don't pass the occasion to have the WZ 131 (to be played with top 85mm gun, great DPM, alpha, gun handling, shooting on the move)), for me it is better tier for tier than the 132, and it offer a good alternative now (with recent buff) to the m41. Especially if you have a good chinese LT crew, you should use them in one other tank than your Type 64.

T7 LT are still very nice for pubs, with obviously easier MM than T8 LT, and from time to time their is campains/events that use T7 max.

AT tie 8, you can't be wrong with a 13 90 or a T54 lw (especially for SH), and at T6 T37 is very solid.

You might consider one day to go for german LTs. At tier 6 VK 2801 is very nice, with unique playstyle (derp gun, raming other LTs), and RU is very solid classic (no auto-loader/derp) LT with amazing speed (best in the game).

I dont rate the Ru251, that shell velocity is pure garbage. Its arguably the best scout because it is so fast, but in terms of fighting capability I don't like it much.

Mainly just using mine for LT15's.

Okay , I will get the T37 for now mainly for sh . I don't really like autoloader because of the reload But I will look into the Amx 13 when Amx 30 is released . I will take my time to decide on wz-132 or t-54 lwt .I won't be taking my light tanks to pub till I get better at it in sh .

Lastly , what event uses tier 7 lights ?

The last campain (or the one before) i think used T7.

SH and random games LT gameplay are really diferent things. In SH your top tier in a coordinated team, wolfpacking with a caller for the battle. While in random you are NEVER top tier, with random team, and you have to make your own decisions.

So I  don't think that SH will make you better light tank player for randoms.

To get better in random, the more games/epxeriences you have, the better you will be, IF you try to analyze your mistakes. Also look replays of good player, learn the good spots on the maps, read guides/forums. But you already know that.

@GOTKU , I can sit in at a spot rather well in which I could do passive scouting and sniping , what I am not good at is actually driving the tank around . I wanna improve my circling skills on lone targets etc and true at some point I would take my LT out to pubs . Now I am contented to drive around in a smaller battlefield with lesser tanks shooting back at me . Its hard to find relevant replays regarding a particular tank especially when the forum ( Asia ) have mixed feelings towards the LT in general . We have one side saying its terrible and the other side saying its wn8 heaven , I don't really belong in either the two . I like exp and I am more motivated to play in a manner where I churn out exp by the thousands so I get my desired tanks .

@Timwahoo , as I mentioned just now . I have limited stock of exp and I don't intend to grind them , I am going to just free-exp myself to what ever tank I decided on and play SH with it . I need another 200 k exp for another project I have in mind . I realised SH is such a good mode for grinding exp therefore this thread is created , I have enough exp for 2 tanks and obviously I want them to be able to partake in SH . Bulldog is a decent tank that I know , I just don't see why my clan would let me use a Bulldog in a tier 8 game . Anyway your advice is noted and perhaps I will get it in the future when I complete my priority tank purchases . So there is no need to use a meme on me and be salty that I did not adopt your suggestion .

@Skyguy7567 , strange no one mentioned the T21 for tier 6 . I went to google it and it turns at 60 degree per sec on the wiki , any in-depth on the tank itself ? I nearly forgotten about the tank if you did not mention it .

Thanks everyone so far for contributing the ideas for my tank purchases , I am grateful for it .

T21 got powercreeped after the T37 was introduced. It had worse DPM, worse penetration, worse accuracy, worse health and worse speed.

Now it's buffed, don't think there are many fans but I like the little thing.

Ah I just used the site WoTCompare , T21 does have a better engine but it loses out in accuracy , penetration , top speed and health indeed . Well too bad  then , I am a sucker for good guns and not to mention T37 have AP shell that nearly reach 1000m/s .

No fans of the 59-16?

I am playing it now, find it quite fun.

- Works well passive scouting, beats most LTs to the spotting bush first.

- Maneuverable as hell, turns well at speed, quick to bug out when spotted.

- Low profile good for half court scouting.

- And lastly, fast firing auto-loader w a quick reload, good for shredding LTs, SPGs and sometimes even lone HT/TDs.

Regarding the 59-16 , 57mm or 76mm autoloader gun and is 106 mm penetration for the 76 mm APCR enough or workable in tier 6 ? I remembered my Matilda IV struggles with 102 mm penetration but that is a slow tank . Any thoughts in it ?
