Hmm. I am doubtful. Yes the video of all the work that is being done gives it an air of credence however given the timing of the announcement (April 1st) it makes my suspicious mind, well, suspicious.

Such a shame they spent so much time modeling some veh IOT place them in the pictures and video for an April Fools Joke - From the graphics it really looks like they could give other competitors a run for the money

Seriously though AW is a major threat to WG's revenue stream, but suddenly putting tier 11 wont be enough to keep the vast number of players waiting for open beta from crossing over.
My guess is WG will lose 500,000 players in the first month of open beta and about 5000 monthly after that.
Healthy competition is good for us players... so more money is put into development to create awesome games.

This ^. It stands to reason that with the 'new tank game' coming soon, WG may well be proactive an going to introduce these tanks into the game. WoT set the precedent as a tank warfare MMO. With the others out or coming, they may want to retain the title "King of Tank Games" by opening up their tier levels for modern MBTs to be competitive and try to stem the flow of customers to the newcomer getting ready to unleash its game.
On a special note, if they ever Put the Ratte in the game, I'm sure it would be limited to 1 to 3 verses 15.
