There are a lot of various terms used by a variety of different tankers within the world of tanks community. I have started this topic so veterans may contribute and post any terms and phrases that are used a lot in the chat. And New players can check in and brush up on some gaming language.

Happy Hunting everyone!

:)

zzz = sleeping/tanks that haven't moved from the deployment zone yet (possibly due to longer loading time into battle etc)

bot = someone who uses a bot program to play the game for them, usually associated with terribad statistics as a result of using bot programs to play

RNG = random number generator, refers to the random sorts of luck that occurs in the game

UFP = upper frontal plate (thoughest armor on most tanks)

LFP= lower frontal plate (weakest armor on most tanks)

derp = guns that do a large amount of damage in one shot, potentially destroying another (poorly armored) tank in just one shot or cripples the target for most of its health and damaging many of its modules. mostly refers to high caliber guns with low velocity, high explosive rounds at calibers ranging from 105mm, 122mm, 130mm, 152mm, 183mm. only refers to direct firing guns, not artillery (SPG) guns

AP = armor-piercing, standard ammunition on most tank guns

APCR = armor-piercing composite-rigid, premium rounds on most tanks with a higher penetration value

HE = high-explosive, rounds that have lower penetration values but higher damage potential, usually reserved for firing at poorly armored tanks and SPGs and for flag resetting and for finishing off tanks at low health without having to use a more expensive AP round. has a small splash radius for higher caliber guns. does more damage if the HE round penetrates the target

HEAT = high-explosive anti-tank, premium rounds on some tanks, high penetration value but must hit a flat surface to penetrate and cause damage, defeated by angled or spaced armor. has a distinctive hissing sound when it strikes a target

HESH = high-explosive squash-head, premium rounds on most British tanks, acts like HE rounds but with a higher penetration value (not as high as AP/APCR) but does more damage per shot, must hit a flat surface, can be defeated by angled or spaced armor

sprem = combination of the word sperm and prem (short for premium rounds), refers to the large amount of premium ammunition fired needlessly at a target that could have just as easily been defeated using standard AP rounds

wallet warrior = someone who spends a large amount of actual money on the game, usually evidenced by the tier 8 premium tanks they drive in. usually a derogatory term given to someone who is in a premium tier 8 tank with little to no prior experience and ends up failing miserably in it at the cost of the team

gold-spammer = term given to someone who fires a large amount of premium ammunition at a tank regardless of the ineffectiveness of firing all that premium ammunition, usually detected by someone who has an XVM mod that informs the kind of ammunition that is striking the tank or when hearing a large number of hissings from HEAT rounds impacting the armor

clicker = SPG

clicked = when you get destroyed by a shot from an SPG

TD mode = when an SPG is fighting on the frontlines, assuming the position similar to a traditional tank destroyer (powerful gun, no turret, narrow gun arc). occurs mostly with faster SPGs (FV304, AMX 13 F3 AM etc) and during late stage of a game
