Hey guys,

I recently stumbled upon a live-fire exercise of the M1128 105mm Stryker, and I was also recently looking at some historical AMX designs. This left me wondering — is the Stryker's turret / gun platform considered an oscillating turret? (I was looking this up and couldn't really find any hard evidence, and the world's most reliable site Wikipedia has nothing to say).

What else is cool about this aptly named vehicle? Please share! :)

It's as Canadian as Justin Bieber.

Also, Americans refer to its turret as a 'remote weapon station', probably because the turret doesn't have crew members in it unlike in the traditional oscillating turrets.

You can surf the turret. Honestly, I never saw one rotate 360 in Afghan.

You have no idea, when your being paid nearly 6k a fortnight as a private, the strange/sick stuff soldiers do for money and laughs is pretty horrible. I won't go into details on some of the sickest stuff, but would you drink the bin juice left after the rubbish has been removed for $1000?

Oscillating turrets have only rarely been used. Their only widespread use was on two French designs, the AMX-13 light tank, the Panhard EBR armoured car and the Austrian SK-105 Kürassier using the AMX-13 turret
