For what seems like forever we have had the British Chieftain in the game folder, and yet WG have not given us this tank to replace the FV215B.

With the new super heavy tanks coming in the next patch, and still no "available" british Tier 8 premium tank in the game, is it not time that the British Tech Tree got some love.

Give us the Chieftain please.

you should tell them to extend the new branch

"I'm a simple man, when I see a free premium tank, I grind, I take it"

don't replace the current FV215b. That thing is pretty fine and ok as it is. heck, maybe give that thing some more armor buffs like they gave to the FV215b (183)

if the console version is anything to go by, the Chieftain, if and when it is introduced to PC, it would be researched from the Conqueror alongside the FV215b (both for 6.1M creds)

but speculation is around that on PC it'll be from the Caernarvon (with some still not 100% sure tier 9)

Chieftain in 2018. Or maybe, just maybe, late/end 2017.

Yes and give it to Long suffering British Line Players for FREE.

Especially those that purchased the AC1.

Some Higher Tiered British Lights would be good too.

the chieftain has been asked to be in game for years but it has only made it to the consul version and not the pc version

to quote the almighty jingles "That's right, the Chieftain tank in World of Tanks, right now. Don't get too excited, though, because it's just those filthy console peasants again. When will this injustice end?"

the Chieftain would be a hybrid between a Centurion AX with the FV215b 120mm railgun. with the current meta and upcoming changes to arty, it would suffer a lot from arty with the thin turret roof and engine deck (this is of course common to nearly all tanks, except for the Type [Removed])

When it comes to the "Super" Conqueror, you're only looking at an additional 14mm's of spaced armour on the hull and turret front.

However, the Conqueror was due to have a new turret if the Chieftain didn't work out. The Improved Ballistic Shaped Turret which was due to be 13.5 inches (342.9mm) at the front and 7 inches (177.8mm) at the sides. Another thing to note is that some Conquerors were used to test the L11 120mm gun, the same gun the Chieftain mounted.

just a thought couldn't you have the chieftain branch off the conqueror so you would have 2 choices at teir 10 like they have with the T-54 in the ussr tech tree as you can either have the T-62A or Obj 140,this way you still keep the FV215b for those that like it and bring in the chieftain for those that want it in the pc version.

you must be new here

that's something still being decided by WG

they have several options on how to introduce the Chieftain into the British tech tree (I think)

  • the quickest way would be as you mentioned similar to the T-54, as an alternative upgrade from the Conqueror to either the FV215b (a further development/proposal of the Conqueror) or the Chieftain (the successor/replacement to the Conqueror IRL)

  • another could be similar to the French MT line, which (currently) branch off from the tier VIII AMX 13 90 and leads to either the AMX 30B or the BC-25t. In this case, the British HTs would branch off from the tier VIII Caernarvon, with a production version of the Chieftain at tier IX leading to the tier X Chieftain.

  • then there are proposals for it to start at tier 5-6, and maybe even lower, of an entirely new branch of British tanks, which some have dubbed the "Vickers" series, from early Vickers tankettes (see Chinese tier 2), including the Valentine, and maybe the Vickers MBT. This could be similar to the recent German heavy tank reshuffling in 9.17.1

The first option is most likely, I'd even see an eventual replacement of the FV215b as that's a complete fabrication by WG. Replaced either by the "Super" Conqueror, or Conqueror "III" with the planned Improved Ballistic Shape Turret and a researchable gun upgrade in the way of the L11.

A tier IX Chieftain would most likely be one of the many prototypes. With the other Chieftain prototypes being used as tier IX & X clan or campaign mission rewards. I'd see this line either A) leading from the Caernarvon as you said or B) still leading from the Conqueror. Somewhat related, there's also an interesting design for a two-man Conqueror turret which could work as a tier VIII premium (with terrible stats and historical gun depression), or a tier IX clan or campaign reward.

This is the least likely option. I'd extend the British light line to tier VIII and make a mini-medium line for the Vickers MBT Mk. 1 as the tier IX and the Vijayanta (the first Indian tank for WoT) or the Vickers MBT Mk. 3 as the tier X. Though I'd probably make the Vijayanta a tier IX campaign reward as gating it as a clan reward could annoy any potential Indian playerbase, at least having it as a campaign reward allows it to be grindable for everyone.

Or alternatively a branch from Centurion with FV 4202 in tier 8.

Historically FV 4202 is a testbed for future Chieftain project, like the turret design and reclined sea. Think it like KV-13 in Russian line, a bridge between IS and T-43.

The problem is 1) players might hate to grind another tank in tier 8 and 2) that shortsighted WG has put 4202 as premium tank.

Back to World of Tanks for now.
