I've noticed fewer tanks going north on Sand River (standard battle) lately, especially to the C6/C7 location which used to be one of the main brawling spots for heavies. In my last 2 games where I went there I found no enemies at all. Meanwhile I've noticed more tanks in the river/on the south side of the map. Has anyone else noticed this shift in the meta?

Yeah its shifted a lot. In assault the pubbies learnt that you can get wrecked pushing the north side too if they go across into where the base normally is in normal sand river. Just means the middle needs to be more careful but has the potential to farm even more damage.

The biggest mistake for WG is to drying the river. This will make some slow and huge heavy like the Japanese heavy having such a hard time.

Yea instead of getting outplayed on north, they all go mid and camp or south and snipe. That's why you need to spot middle crossing south and farm them, and then spot them using ridges so the snipers/heavies get rekt(and arty likes to cross as well, getting rid of ****ing arty is always nice)

I find that if you start south, pushing up K line is good because you have the advantage due to how the terrain is made. You can get right up to the back of the north side of the map and put some shots into the river and sometimes spot arty or camping TDs on their cap.

Going up north is fine if you are fast enough.

But on a Type 4 / Type 5 / VK 45.02B / Maus .... not a good idea since scouts will have an early spot on you and arty will have a nice juicy slow target to farm damage and fast medium will have pot shots at you too.

You're slow, bad terrain resistance, going up hill and all the time showing your sides it's just not worth the risk.

When an enemy Arty "one shots" 2 of your teams' heavies and you're in a heavy tank, you know you're screwed.

A heavy tank should have armor and a big gun, if you don't have either then you're not.

Yeah in slow tanks its not so hot unless you get a bunch of fast ones going first to be the initial targets.

I've always gone south on sand river XD. The advantage from south on either spawn is that you can shoot centre and have the ability to move for cap attack/defence.

Had an epic match with my Strv.m42/57 the other day (whatever the crap that tier 6 thing is); got a pools & kolobanov and 3.7k dmg in tier 6 by defending south. Had the sweats going bigtime.

because tanks can push centre this make the south more valuable as a support fire position
