proposed changes to arty and how that imparts to other tanks

Ok the proposed sandbox changes to arty seem to be locked in but we never know, what I would like to ask and see if anyone can explain it to me ?

 

1.How do they work out the armour thickness on top of the turrets of each individual tank and is this calculate into each tanks weight and the effect it has on the travel on ground?

as we Know any turrets armour varies from front to back and we are give those values ,but with the proposed changes I got to thinking how thick is the top of each turret, is it the same as the back value /side value or front? Or are they going to add another stat to give certain turrets a bonus against the probably penetration of HE and the likely cause to killing all crew members from a HE round

 

2. if they havent given a thickness do the proposed changes allocate a thickness and how will they every other tank

There has always been a given value for the top armor for each tank whether it's the top of the turret or the top of the hull and it's usually not much from 20-60mm but can go as low as 8mm .

 


When an enemy Arty "one shots" 2 of your teams' heavies and you're in a heavy tank, you know you're screwed.

A heavy tank should have armor and a big gun, if you don't have either then you're not.

so even tho HE has a lower pen it should by rights penetrate

 

this is where I'm getting confused as most arty shells fall down wards , so by rights every hit should kill all crew with HE

 

 

 

I must be missing something

OK found this, so given the BERT (and I'm using this as an example) has an average penetration of 57, how arent more IS3 destroyed from lose of crew  from BERT given its high ark of fire,

 

 

 

how would it go against tanks with no top turret armour

Most shots don't come down from a completely vertical angle, most don't then hit the roof, and of the minority that do hit the roof won't necessarily hit the vulnerable areas, all around the IS-3's 20mm area (which I thought had been buffed a while back anyway) is armour that is both thicker and more angled, many of those will not result in a HE penetration from any angle, and of the hits that do go through a vulnerable area of the turret, crew are killed randomly, you're unlikely to lose all the crew members from a single hit, especially since the driver has a hitbox in a different location.

Don't try to compare "IRL" with WOT.

Almost ANY Penetrating shot "IRL" would be Dehabitating or Fatal to crews let alone to the Tank it's self.

 

In any Case untill the Proposed changes "Actually" appear I wouldn't be holding my breath.

True, except Friendly Arty would have taken out the Tiger, just as Fury fired, and Splashed Fury at the same time.  :trollface:
