Didn't have any idea where this fit, either the Gameplay section or the off-topic section, but nevertheless, here it is.

This is a thread where you can discuss all about tank nicknames; whether or not a tank deserves a nickname, when you have a nickname to give to tanks, anything related to fan nicknames on tanks (like Bert The Avenger for the FV304, or Stalin's Hammer for the SU-122-44).

I'll start; I have at some nicknames I use for some armored vehicles I played on the live/test server.

Bishop- Viper the Dust Demon (I played the Bishop first during the 9.17.1 test server a few months back, and I loved it; I put a "Viper" sticker and "Dust Demon" sticker on opposite sides of the tank and that nickname has since stuck with me). Also "Crippled FV304" since it's basically just a slow FV304.

Object 252U: Defender of the Front (a faint reference to the Defender camo, and because this is such an infernal thing to penetrate the frontal armor, although none of my tanks have more than 194 pen, t I hear even some Tier 10s are also having problems getting through the front, and if even T10s have problems going through the front, what does that say about T6-T9?)

AT-15A: AT-15 "Armor": 225mm+ of frontal armor at T7 is crazy, and it only sees up to T8. Only TDs and a bunch of other tanks with over 240mm penetration will get through it (discounting weakspots), and since it only sees up to T8 the 171 pen isn't so much of a problem, especially with the heavenly gun handling (fast aiming time, excellent gun accuracy and lightning-fast RoF) it gets.

Hellcat: Hellslow, because it's like you've taken its predecessor (T67) and immersed the entire thing in cold molasses.

Pz. Sfl. IVc: Panzer soufflé, though I think that's actually pretty common.

Skorpion G: I nickname I'd probably get a warning for, and named for reasons I also can't say.

All of these have just been picked up from other players, except for the LeFh which has earned it's nickname and the IS. IS of course stands for "Iosef Stalin" and apparently some German tankers were known to call ISes "Uncle Joes" in WWII.

MT-25 = MegaTurd

LeFH6356769470896 = Le[Content removed]

Pzsfl = Toaster

HT IV = Jiger

Fv304 = Bert

VK 30.02 (M) = Protopanther

IS = Uncle Joe

183 = Death Star

E25 = Cockroach

Also, I tend to refer to VK tanks as "Vic-[number]" in voicechat. So a VK45 would be called a "Vic forty-five".

EDIT: Does calling the Borsig "Borsig" count as a nickname, I wonder?

Got new nicknames for tanks:

VK 30.01D: German Cromwell- Goes at similar speeds, has a similar 75mm gun, and sits at the same tier. I think that stats-wise and gameplay-wise (insofar I can describe my terrible runs in it) the 30.01D is the German equivalent to a Cromwell.

Steyr WT: Rhm-B.WT Beta- Basically a Rheinmetall-Börsig Waffenträger at Tier 7, possessing no armor and average mobility but a good gun and excellent camo. Haven't played it yet but I guessed this one pretty easily.

The one that was on sale a couple days ago? The Krupp-Steyr? Had thought of it more as a Nashorn, but with better camo, a fully traversible turret, and better gun depression... and which sees tier IX with the same gun.

Su-14-2 : Schoolbus because it looks like one ( And there's a mod that makes it look like a schoolbus)
T92 : Nuke launcher ( self explanatory)
T26e5: mega Pershing
S-51 : unicorn tank ( gun makes it look like one)
Fv215b/fv 4005 : Heshbarn v1 And heshbarn v2
St Emil : shitty Emil ( stupid stock grind)

E75 (goldmine)- If I could pull out all gold stuck in its face, I could buy myself 3 Lowe.

Borsig (bushmaster)- I move around a lot more in arty than in this.

Tiger1 (hanz)- No particular reason.

Me in Wot

2014-"wut is this, oh, it can shoot"

2015-"**** arty"

2016-"How to win more?"

2017-"DEUS VULT!!" *press R 3 times*

I thought the one that was on sale and the one in the ingame store are the same. Maybe I'm wrong? And fyi the Jagdpanther also has that gun and sees T9 as well, so no big issue. The Nashorn only sees up to T8 where it's 203mm pen places it more on the line of the Flakbus, which gets practically the same gun at Tier 5.

Anyway, I call the T-150 the "Titan" 150 because of that ridiculous armor- mine's almost stock with only the KV-2's engine and the KV-1S' 85mm gun upgraded, but I completed StuG IV's HT13 (block damage equal or more than HP and deal 1000 damage, I dealt 999) in that tank's maiden voyage. I still lost but totally worth it.

And the ELC is the Epic Lulz Char (Char= French for tank) because it's one of the most often seen tanks for funny/weird mishaps, and this nickname was from my Random Battle Shenanigans Thread.

Ah, the M4A1 Revalorise (French: M4A1 Improved according to G. Translate). I love that tank. Infact, if I can I'll get that or the Pershing Jumbo before the sale ends. Too bad I blew like Rp.220000 on the B2 pack before that.

New nicknames ahoy!

Chi-Ri= Chi-Ri-Lee; a character from MLP:FiM (Cheerilee) has a similar pronounciation to this tank. So it stuck with me since I am a brony (plz dont hate me).

Lago= Swedish Chi-He; as is the case with the VK 30.01D and the Cromwell, this tank plays similarly (and in the case of the stock-turret Lago, even looks like) the Chi-He. They even get a similar 57mm gun and sit on the same tier.

Sturer Emil= Dicker Max's Big Brother; they look alike, don't you think? The D.Max's 105mm K18 gun is even the St.Emil's stock gun. I also call it Saint Emil because St. is how "Saint" is abbreviated.

HT No.VI: Henschel-Tiger, Tier No.VI. A Henschel Tiger that sits at Tier 6, and is conveniently called HT No.VI.

Nashorn: Nasty Horn; okay, pony porn jokes aside (yes, been here done that, I've seen that part of the brony community), the Nashorn is the most frequent tank responsible for killing me in battle. 203mm pen at T6? Nice job Germany, you just created one of the most frankly feared Tier 6 TD, good thing you forgot to add armor.

Marder 38T: Marder-Bot; like the Chi-Ri, a name derived from a non-WoT franchise, in this case Saints Row IV, where there are enemies literally called Murderbots, and since it was close enough, I combined leet speak and cheesy pun to create that nickname.

VK 100.01P: VK LooolPen; Good luck fighting one of these from the perspective of a T6 tank; this tank has thick armor before you angle it, which only makes things worse for those on the receiving end, especially since the 128mm gun packs a nasty punch. The only thing stopping this thing from being OP is it's speed (so slow Jeremy Clarkson is going to shout "POOOWWWWEEERRRRRR!!!" driving it without actually going faster) and almost flat armor (kinda like the Maus, HEAT will mess you up).

The only tank on sale right now that looks tempting is the Lorraine 40t. Only thing is I'm very hesitant going into battle with that and an unskilled 100% crew. Still could do with crew trainers for my other tank crews, but I figure knowing my luck the day after I buy them at full price, they'll go on sale at 40% the next day.

And yeah, the Sturer Emil and Dicker Max do look alike. Finally picked that up, but can't afford to equip it :mellow:. Burnt all of my free exp on that too.

It's funny, I don't see Nashorns in battle that much, and I don't think I've ever been taken out by one. Cromwell B, now that's a constant pain. Nashorn also has terrible gun depression. The amount of times I've tried to shoot someone but couldn't because they were just too low. St Emil gets three times the gun depression :). You must be pretty unlucky to keep coming up against teams that actually spot AND have TDs that shoot spotted targets.

Ammo racked a VK100.01 in my SP 1C; sent the turret flying :teethhappy:

I had a similar experience driving my Sherman Firefly; a Dicker Max on my team ammo-racked a full health Panther II with his first shot. 1500 damage in one shot, yes. The Rhm-B.WT and the Ikv 90 on my team went "wow" and "damn" respectively.

The Sturer Emil and the D.Max even share a similar history: heavy tank destroyer prototypes, only two built, sent to the Eastern Front, and suffered mechanical issues frequently.

Cromwells in general are constant sources of annoyance. T67s too.

I even have a nickname for the O-I: the O-Iyo. It's a corruption of "Ohaiyo!" ("Morning!" in Japanese), which is what I imagine O-I tanks do to their target before derping it, something along the lines of pre-mortem one-liner.
