Why these codes at this time?

25th Apr marks ANZAC Day, a commemorative holiday to honour all Australians and New Zealanders (the ANZACs) who contributed and served. The date 25th Apr stems from the Gallipoli offensive in WW1, a watershed event for the collective consciousness of both nations' history. 

 

 

Personal note from this article writer (me):

ANZAC personnel have a strong reputation within the region and the Commonwealth, both for their jovial informality as well as a can-do spirit that is awe-inspiring to witness. From the Kokoda Trail to 1 ATF to their support of various United Nations' missions around the world, ANZACs have worked, and bled, to maintain the tenuous peace we enjoy.

 

Regardless of the politics that underpinned some actions, let us remember the service and sacrifice of all servicemen and women, both of ANZAC and around the region.

This week I hosted a number of articles to remind Australians that we have today amongst us a Veteran force of Army, Navy and Air Force personnel who have served in war or dealt closely with it. When we commemorate ANZAC day and remember those that have gone before we should also be mindful of those amongst us now and the scars carried. Life in the military wasn't easy, and I often wonder if I would be better for not having served but in the end I think Australia is worth what I have given even if some take for granted the freedoms we enjoy .

 To quote a NZ veteran - "Life is not easy, but it's only as hard as you make it."

 

His story - he lost both legs to a land mine, but he persevered and rehabilitated himself back to a "normal" life.

 What is not mentioned in the memorial article was how he was found after losing his legs. His section commander, having heard the blast from the landmine, started yelling if Hudson was alright. Hudons, in typical ANZAC fashion, started cursing in the most foul language imaginable.

Emblems are free except you have to complete a mission, which is unlocked with the codes.
