Can you explain the proper use of platooning for me?  I often get 'invited' to platoon but decline simply because I don't see why/what benefit - ie as an LT why would I want to platoon with a HT.  I can't see the point of being asked by a TD since if I'm lighting the enemy I'm lighting them for everyone!  I can see why a HT might platoon with other HT's or even an MT but more often than not I see platoon member shoot off in different direction on the map - doesn't that defeat the purpose?

Some players may look for similarly skilled players in battle and request to form a platoon - having 2 (or 3) good players on your team increases your chance to win. Other times you will just get random tomatoes spamming invites out to anyone as they roll their face over the keyboard.

Either way, platooning allows you to have direct comms (chat amd voice) with another player that may help you work together.

In your particular case, I fear that you are just being spammed invites from randoms. I know I would prefer to take the chance for the MM to find me another team mate.

It also comes down to personal missions, the platoon ones, where whilst you can do it on your own having 2 other players doing some damage/spotting for you can help

Also very good for keeping your interest in the game up by platooning with friends to include banter and reduce the chance of your soul being destroyed.
Salt glorious salt : They can not do what they want with unclearly way.

Sometimes nearing the end of the battle. A player with 3 kills may invite somebody else with 3 kills to sneak in a cheeky BIA.

RIP Aufklärungspanzer Panther 16th July 2015. You will be missed, friend.

Missed out on a crucial the other day because R. Pubbeh didn't accept my invite.

Interestingly, I play most of the time without sound (can't wear headphones for too long due to ear problems and I do not want to annoy the other half....) so I often miss requests.  Most of the time it's not until I return to the garage that I am aware of a request.

Platoon requests appear as a star (I think) next to the player name on the top left corner of your screen - there's no audio clue.

Press control and click on the star to accept.

Well I though I was the worlds worst player in WOT with my Win/Loss falling below 46%.  Was in 2 battles yesterday, both of which were losses, where I was the highest damage taker x 200% (of all players, not just my own team) and 60% of my team scored 0's.  It gives me hope :)

Lol. I had one yesterday in my Matilda and did around 1k damage with 9 of my team doing zero damage... I mean seriously.  I was last to go down and covered a flank by myself. I only needed some of my team to hang around and I could have got 1.5-2k.... O well, can't win em all....

Team, ah Team, where's my team!

Well I can beat that.  Tonight I got an Ace Tanker (my 2nd ever) as a Tier 6 TD in a Tier 8 match.  Really helps when they drive in front of your gun :).  I tell you what - the heart was pumping and my aimed shots were becoming snaps.......  At my age I'll call that a night and let the adrenalin levels drop back to normal.
