I have to say I actually really enjoy the changes. It's not often that WG gets a change right but in this case I would say they've nearly nailed it. While the casement might not have some trollish angles that can make the SD model bounce shots, the armor is significantly more consistent. It's flat, 254mm of armor and that's damn good and will be more then enough to force tier 9 and some tier 10 to open their pockets to go through it... Assuming they can't hit the lower plate.

Yes, the 'chin' has been replaced with a large, weak lower plate. At an effective angle of 57 degrees that 127mm has an effective thickness of 233mm. And this would be my only concern with this model, I don't see any reason to have reduced the thickness. On the SD model it's sloped at 61 degrees giving it an effective thickness of 275mm, thicker then what's on the T95 (251mm effective). But if that 133.35mm of armor was at the 57 degree angle on the HD model then you're looking at an effective thickness 244.84mm. Not as strong as on the SD model, but still sufficiently strong.

The other thing I've noticed is the cupolas. While they aren't the 154mm all over like the T95's (there's a strip of 101.6mm in the middle) I noticed that the they're more, for want of a better word, shaped and can pull off some troll bounces.

My only other issue is the name. This is not the T28,the T95 at tier 9 is the T28. From memory, this new model is based off an ealy concept/prototype of the T28/T95. I think the name and tank description should be updated to better reflect this.

As a final verdict, except for the lower plate which I think could use that small buff, I really like the changes to the T28. The armor has been more consistent and reliable though the games I've played with it so far on the test server. You can be more aggressive in it compared to previously and it feels more natural as the predecessor to the T95.

There's no doubt in my mind that the T28 will become more competitive in 9.21 with this new HD model and armor changes

Aye, it's got a back as sloped as a Hetz; it's not quite the T28/T95 we know of. Also, that is a very tough LFP; it's practically better-armored than the new AT 15.

So...do we rename it as the T28 Concept? The T28 Prototype?  :P

hue hue hue

That's another issue altogether. The T28 HTC is fine being called the T28 HTC because it was the "heavy tank concept".

The "T28 Prototype" is fake so that can be renamed to something else or removed for all care and the current T28 can be renamed to the T28 Prototype

(gave my self a headache thinking about that one)

They should switch the T28 HTC to prototype, since "Heavy Tank" is supposed to have a Turret, which more fit the current tier8 T28 prototype.

Well, this will conflict historical accuracy though.

Well actually, the production version was called both the Gun Motor Carriage T95 or... the T28 Super Heavy Tank

so the HTC being called HTC is fine since its the 'concept for the T28 Super Heavy Tank'

honestly for historical accuracy the T25/2, T28 Prototype and T110E4 should be removed since they're all WG fabrications

Bloody oath. They did a cracker of a job here. Actually glad they didn't do a half [edited] job of only removing the outer trackss off the T95. It makes the T28 more unique
