I plotted the weekly server population with ±1 minute resolution. This might be useful to you if you want to avoid "certain" players. Sheet below.

The drops in the chart might be a server restart.

Interesting stuff many thanks. It would be interesting also to see the trend over months especially to see the effect of HD maps 1.0 and if it brings more population and if that stays or not.

I would love to see that stats comparing the performance of tanks when they are on sale vs when they go off sale.

 

I am of the opinion that tanks on sale are given RNG and MM benefits, that evaporate once they go off sale. Would love to see stats that prove this one way or another

​Actually I suspect that it will be the opposite. When stuff (especially meta OP flavour of the month) is on sale a bunch of people buy it thinking it will be a magical I win button (which is illogical when you think that they are just as likely to be matched with opposition also playing the flavour of the month OP tank). Then discover that they actually have to know how to play the tank, what its strengths and weaknesses are, how fast the reload is etc. when their yolo plays just get themselves killed. Over time they either learn at least a little bit how to play the tank and get better win rates.

 

I remember when I bought the Patton KR and then 3 months later they were letting people use it for free for a limited time over a couple of weeks... That's when I got my second mark of excellence on it, because doing better damage than all the noob KR users was easy at that time..

Indeed. For instance based on the recents on wot news it looks like the defender is doing worse as a result of the sale, rather than better.

Interestingly, 1/4 of the Defenders I have run into are brand new accounts with only a Defender above tier 2.

Graphs are nice, but I am experiencing long long wait times to get a match (location set on Auto) I have tried all times of the day and all levels. I gave up this morning after trying to play 5 different tanks and 5 different levels. I waited more than 2 minutes before giving up. 

 

its incredibly frustrating.

Perhaps switch over to the Singapore main server. 17k battles I would think you have already played plenty there before ANZ was a thing.
