I've played a handful of Frontline, and just wanted to share my thoughts on some tanks that I picked and also want to hear from others as well

Progetto 46: The Progetto 46 I imagine is a popular pick for anyone who's got it. It's perfect for flanking, can snipe, and has the mobility to traverse such a big map. Utilizing that auto-reloader can be tricky, since you want the staying power of a conventional gun but sometimes need that burst damage to eliminate a tank.

FV4202: On one occasion, while on the attacking side, I managed to rack up over 3k damage in the Prius. I don't own the Centurion 5/1, but on ridges the FV4202 turret holds itself well enough, and the 20-pdr gun does cut through most tanks fairly reliably.

Charioteer: I picked this tank during my first (or second) Frontlines match on the Attacking side. It may help that I have a 3 skill crew with BIA, and the fairly high penetration of the 105mm APCR cuts through a lot of tanks with ease. On the Attack I was on D, skirting the west slopes and aiding the team's push to the flag. I'd take this tank over the S1 because of having a turret and better flexibility, and managed to rack up 5k damage.

Emil I: This tank I'll only pick for either taking a flag or defending a flag. Some of the flags (such as in A and C) there's a lot of hull down positions, and having that burst damage helps move things along (or at least eliminate a tank). But like with any autoloader, it's helpless on the reload and it doesn't have the mobility to escape like the Lorr 40t or AMX 50 100. Also currently grinding the tank so I might as well load the gold

Patriot: Similar to the Emil, I pick this tank when trying to make a push. The 90mm gun can out DPM the T32's 105mm gun and is somewhat more accurate and hard-hitting. The armor holds up when hull-down but detests open spaces.

Owned Tier 10s: Obj 907, IS-7, Obj 140, M60, M48A5 Patton, STB-1, WZ-111 5A, 113, Centurion Action X, Super Conqueror, Badger

Possibly not so informative but:

Skorpion G:  Hard hitting and somewhat manoeuvrable, the damage output whilst defending a cap circle can be insane if you find the right spot and can use vision control.  (avg around 6-7k damage)

S1. There are some wonderful places on the map to sit and snipe between the Zones, downside is the rather slow speed whilst travelling and you mostly need time to set up, something which you are rarely allowed.  (avg around 5-6k )

Progetto 46: I'm still training the crew for this tank, no SS etc, still at around 75% , usually I run it for the initial confrontation, due to the burst being useful at resetting capping tanks. (low average, normally destroyed quite early)

FV4202: Great tank with he 50kph, good all-rounder, not so good late game when you are trying to demolish the Gun Turrets, mainly used mid game. (average around 5-7k)

Charioteer: Can be great mid game when you have to move around more, not too good since you can't camp very  well, as you are spotted much too often and its rather squashy.  (avg. 3-5k)

I tried the Patriot (E5) but found it was too slow to get to the next zone, possibly good for initial defence or attack.

I have now acquired the Centurion 5/1 and I will see if it fairs better than the Fv4202.

My feeling is that due to the fast pace and consolidate (lots of tanks together in the same area) gamestyle, it is difficult to camp, there are too many flanking opportunities therefore TDs aren't so viable, and with hardly any SPGs, it is better to have a fast moving MT or a hard hitting but quicker TD.

I was doing quite well in my Primo Victoria. Some very nice hull down positions.

Hands off our PMM tanks War Gaming.

I think we should pick the tanks that we've got use of and tanks which have good crew's skills.

I picked Lowe and Type 59 and played much better than my Skorp G and Progetto 46.

I've been cycling between:

T-44-100 - Great mobility, DPM and reliable armour means you can always be influencing the battle. Fantastic on attack.

FV4202 - Similar traits to the T-44-100, except it's much better hull down. Not as great pushing through the open though.

M41 90 - Potential to run 3 enhancements (I run arty, smoke and engineering), mobile and incredible DPM. Also great for digging out campers.

WZ-120-1G FT - Solid armour, good mobility and fantastic DPM. Accuracy is a little underwhelming, but you're rarely sniping at long range. Can also run the second enhancement.

3-Marked Tanks: Chaffee, T37, AMX 12T, Cromwell, Skoda T25, SU-100, WZ-131G FT, IS-3, T-54, T-10, T57 Heavy, IS-7

I've been enjoying the Tiger II a lot in Frontline. It's fairly slow, but an accurate gun at range, reasonable pen and RoF, and surprisingly good agility have let me have very strong games for my skills.

Gun accuracy and reasonable pen are super helpful because if you can see a tank, you can hurt it. The agility has let me murder MTs who see a HT in the open and try to outrun my turret/traverse. And the RoF has let me stand my ground against a few tanks by hiding my lower glacis behind a rock and angling up, until the cavalry arrives (though it helps that they didn't all rush me at the same time)

I'm bouncing twixt the 5/1, the primo victoria and the prog.

Tried the defender, too slow. The M4 49 was an ok choice but again slow.

The T44 would be good, I ran the FL version with no skills in the first game and it was surprisingly effective.

Otherwise most mediums would be ok. Might try out the lorr and T69 tonight and see how they go.

My theory is early game on Attack you can slip in something slower and on defence in the later game. I had some success in the 28 Prot (yes it's a grind) defending D E F and then back into defending the final points, likewise the IS-M.  This seemed to balance with early game on attack. Once you have picked up A B or C then mobility to exploit a breakthrough.

T-44-100
T28 Prot
Progetto

Tonight I'm going to give the Patriot a run and some other prems.

PS: Apologies for anyone who sees my Panther II but it's preferable to pubbing it.

What about tanks that are good for capping or resetting cap?

You silence those who speak the truth, and you wonder why everyone is talking rubbish

You reward those who win by cheating, and you wonder why you can't produce people who can win while playing fairly

You punish people who put in effort to play, and you wonder why all who remain are the unmotivated

I've got some slow tanks (KV-4, O-Ho) that I need to grind, but i can't see myself bringing these snails into battle unless its on for an early push and hold on cap or final defense holding.

Any tank can be good for capping, but ideally you want some tanks to drive through the cap and set up a blocking force between the defenders, giving the tanks behind them at least 1 minute to capture the flag. But that rarely happens and so its fairly easy for the defending team to reset.

Edelweiss as heavy scout. Great for ramming pesky LT.

My main tanks for the mode:

Lorraine 40t: Autoloader. First clip reloads in half the time. So go in clip someone and [edited] off to the repair zone, rinse and repeat. Lack of armor hurts though if spotted

Centurion Mk.1: My most favorite tank in this mode. decent mobility, good gun and great turret. Had so much fun using this tank.

Progetto: this tank is made for this mode. can be used as a clipper/ single shot. the flexibility is too good. better than the lorr imo.

AMX 50 100: This tank is god like. again like the lorraine, first clip loads in half the time, find some poor soul and dispatch him, reload and repeat. My highest damage was in this and the centurion. Absolute beast tank in this mode. and this is without the top engine. i cant imagine how this would be with the top engine.

Will be breaking out the TVP today as i have to grind it out in this mode. but my main tanks will be the 4 above.

For the Defender naysaysers, you just need to anchor yourself. Sometimes the spawns are far enough from the action that they're a poor choice, but they're godly against the T4 muppets running FL tanks, and very good against everyone else. Consistently my highest damage tank in Frontline so far.

AMX M4 49 was also good against muppets, and is more mobile than the Defender, but not by much. Can be made to work though, and the *relative* lack of arty helps a lot.

Progetto is v good too, and I think I agree that it's flexibility beats the Lorraine in this mode as it is much more accurate over range than the Lorraine.

Blackdog is okay, but spotting is not a huge issue in this mode with so many players from so many different angles and I think that most LTs suffer in this mode as a result. Most of the time most of the enemy is spotted. I prefer the Edelweiss as a "heavy" scout.

Haven't tried my 50 100 yet but I'll give that a spin. Might have 1-2 more T8s I've forgotten as well.

T-44 rental was very serviceable, mobile, accurate and plenty of punch - I didn't feel like I was playing a gimped tank at all. No doubt the 44-100 would be even better, but I don't have one. The T32 rental is probably balls nasty to play though, geez. So many better options.

LT-playing masochist. It's too much fun to be a mosquito.

Nice post OP, i haven't had a chance yet to try FL mode. Going off the posts so far it would be fair to say the FV 4202 fairs pretty well in this mode. Please corrrect me if i wrong you can use 3 tanks ? If so how would a 3 Brit Med line up go ?

Cheers Moosey.

Not sure there is a limit.

I think I may have used 4 different ones in a game last night.

Any tank that can hull down I've had great success with simply because most of the maps aren't particularly flat. My go to's are Ind Pzr, Progetto 46 & Cent 5/1. Best being the British tier 8.

I can't recommend slow heavies though as you can chew them up fairly easily, as there are so many more angles to shot from.

To Leopard 1, or not to Leopard 1 is the question!

British Line (Conqueror & Challenger), Chinese Lines (T34-2, 111 5A & WZ-131), French Line (AMX M4 mle. 45), German Line (Leopard PTA), Italian Line (P43.ter).

2nd MOE: PZ III/IV, T-34

Trollish armor against other meds (except the British) and high dpm means yes. It's just not the best med choice imo.
