Hey Conan, You wouldn't happen to know anything about the sneak peek which is usually put up on thursday by this time would you?

I'll be honest in that this weekend's stuff got a little messy so I was not able to make one. I will be able to do it next Thursday. Sorry about that.

will give you locations to some spicy food if you ever come Singapore again.

Thanks. for the rest of the duration our local counterparts took us to a pakistani restaurant for lunch, which is same cuisine wise. Our hotel was near little india so our dinners we mostly arranged there.

But I loved Singapore. Felt very safe as an outsider. Have had official trips to south africa and US and we are generally told not to go out without the locals as it is very dangerous. But in singapore we were roaming about till midnight alone because it was early for sleeping as per india time (and mustafa mall and Bugis street are huge to cover).

Ha ha ha. Ask anyone from Hyderabad and they will most probably tell you that they are sick and tired of biryani. Moreover i am not a big fan of rice, more of a chapati guy. :) Born and brought up in north india, so that influence is stronger even though my ancestry is from southern india!

Had it this year when i went to singapore. To put it nicely Indians generally would not like it. I ate some as i was famished and as i said above am a man of simple tastes, my colleague stopped after 2 bites. We indians like our spice overload.

The biryani mentioned above is basically like chicken rice but way more spicy.

That's funny because I'm Singaporean Indian and I love Chicken Rice.

But how long have you lived there? If you are born and brought up or have spent a considerable amount of time there you will get a hang of the taste. on the other hand, we were as good as tourists there for a few days.

Even the Pakistani restaurant we went to made the dishes considerably less spicy than what they would be in India/ Pakistan.

And are all chicken rice the same? because the one we had was basically boiled chicken in a broth with veggies which our hosts said was authentic.

Steam chicken rice(i prefer steam you could try roasted) with chili sauce (not the ones you get at fastfood restaurant). TBH they dial down the spices in restaurant here to suit everyone's taste. You could always ask them to make it spicy.
