Hi everyone,

 

Season 9 is now on the way, and expect to launch in July.
Basically we will be following Season 8 setup with some tweaks, major tweaks as follow:


1. The biggest change will be a new on-map event - Firefly provinces - during the season, which EU tested in Season 8.

2. We are planning to reintroduce the "Division upkeep" feature (and new task/feature related to this change). 
This change might potentially reduce the "free land farmer" clans and also increase dynamic on the Global Map. 

(currently cancelled due to several issues)

3. Province gold will award to clans daily instead of by turns.

In addition, we will be using the same map pool as Arms Race:

Westfield
Karelia
Malinovka Abbey
Murovanka Sand River
Prokhorovka Redshire
Mines Ruinberg
Fisherman's Bay Steppes
Cliff Himmelsdorf
Ensk  

 

Maybe adding Siegfried Line as well, but feel free to name the maps you want (except those are no long available please) or you don't want.

 

Please share your feedback or discussion here, not necessary to what I mentioned above only, other issues related to Season 8 are also welcome.

We might not be able to grant all your wishes but it's always a good thing to have some ideas from you guys for reference.

(No Tier 4/6 CW, CR/D or off-topic please)

Update [6/20]

 

1. Reduce battle time down to 12 minutes, and reduce the battle interval between tournament rounds. (maybe 20 minutes?)

(Reduce battle time to 12 minutes was a package with encounter/atk-def mode, since encounter mode no available in S9, we will not make this change in S9)

 

2. Use encounter mode for all CW battles, will have 14 maps in map pool. (cannot use both atk/def and encounter at the same time, will limited map pool down to 8)

(Unable to make it to S9 in time, will keep this option open for future season/event/campaign)

 

Note: currently these are still in discussion, it's NOT finalized yet.

 

Feel free to follow up these ideas and discuss about it.

Update [6/28]

 

After further discussion with dev team, we believe there are not enough time and resource to prepare for the changes we mentioned earlier without the risk of breaking something in Season 9.

Therefore we have no choice but to drop all the possible changes for Season 9 except the special "Gold drop" event which introduced in EU in Season 8.

We are now finalizing Season 9 setup and will announce the news within 2 weeks.
Thank you for all the feedback and discussion in this thread, issues/suggestions raised here will be sent to dev team for further evaluation.


In the meantime, we are already starting to review some planned major changes for Global Map Season 10, I will share with you all once I have more detail.

If you asked me to remove one map from that list, it would be cliff. I am so sick of playing that map, we played that map so much during arms race.

As for adding a map, I would suggest bringing back some of the old maps that have been removed, such as Pearl River.

Yer, cliff is really starting to wear thin, it's gameplay is also boring as hell (camp Strv up the back and first team to push loses)

By that logic, every map in WoT needs to be removed. Because theres no new CW maps NotLikeThis.

Why is Abbey still a map for clanwars.

Agreed.

Time for new maps.
If you give us a steady stream of "sub average" maps, you'll at least distract us from the fact they are sub average because it takes a while to find the exact way to play each map.

You can start by re-introducing some of the old maps, such as the "Asian" maps like Dragons ridge, Hidden village, and Pearl river.

I dont know how the map distribution is done, but can we make sure that in each timezone there is at least one open map and one urban/closed map?
Gives each clan the option to play on a map that suits their play style.

Honestly I dont remember if this happened or not in the last one, but I do remember that we were playing cliff WAY to much...

How will the map,rotation be balanced? It looks like there are more map choices than there will be early TZ provinces :-/

They should also put Province in since it is just so much fun in high tier.

WG needs to add some more maps like Lakeville & Live Oaks. Strategically these both maps are really creative.

Suggestion:

(1) open up 11pm prime time.

(2) increase the amount of gold from current 48. 72, 96 and 120 to 96, 144, 192, 240 respectively. 

Note:

The effect of increasing the gold capping in season 8 (the province that can earn gold), compared to season 7 resulted in the increase in clan participation in season 8. There should be more incentive.

(3) Remove province gold capping. This will encourage Clans to continue to push-out and be competitive.

(4) remove map: cliff, abbey, fisherman's bay.

(5)  add map: Siegfied Line, Ghost Town, Lakeville, Live Oaks.

 

As to your concerns about "free land farmer", I think this can be offset if there are more clan participation. If the reward is attractive enough, clans will naturally come to the map. There should be enough mechanism to mitigate farming activities, i.e. riots, division cost/upkeep and ample landing zones. Farming activity will only occur if clans are not interested in participating in clan war. Also, clans who have dedicated players, able to commit to the prime times and able to coordinate/organize clan war activity on a large scale shouldn't be penalized by restrictions that "supposedly" designed to mitigate farming, it's just not working.

Maybe we could make it so that Firefly provinces are Attack/Defence (two bases) just for a bit of variety?

Would help with the transition from CW to tournaments.
