But how many people from ANZ sat purely on the SG server? This doesn’t help the ANZ server that we where all crying for years to WG about.

I am in Western Australia and ANZ is unplayable.  I load in after the count down has finished and then suffer constant packet loss.  SG was up to 50ms more but loaded in 10 seconds before countdown started and next to no packet loss.    A shining example of how awesome our NBN really is.

It will do a lot more to fix your connection than screaming at WG in the forums and blaming them.

Sure, they pulled this from out of nowhere, complain and be angry about that instead.

Not the fact that you have 3000000 ping, that's your ISP routing sub-optimally.

Edited topic title and pinned for the duration while players are having server woes.

Those experiencing lag issues, please do a traceroute and post the results in this thread.

~neokai

Players are free to complain about the routing to their ISP's.. There's never a harm having it being worked on from multi angles.

However usually we can handle that in a much more efficient way than Players -> ISP, and we are currently working on optimizing non optimal routing..

So sending tracert's through to us (in text format), is the most efficient way.

Tan.

Given that my previous pathway to the SG server was Broome to Perth to Singapore for 100ms ping could pls advise what wondrous routing magics will return my now 300+ms ping to what it was? Zero width wormholes perhaps? You know just so I can help my ISP out ideas when I call them.

Dan

At the moment some AUS ISP's are going via Japan when they shouldn't be.. Going through the middle, like Guam is more likely the optimal route.
This is currently causing two issues.

1. Lag from Japan.
2. Japan being naturally further, so lag from the extra distance

You should find, East AUS / NZ to hongkong, to be similar to East AUS / NZ to Singapore..
WHEN the routing is fixed and traffic isnt going via Japan..

And then the AUS to hong kong connection wil have the added advantage of not going through the Perth to Sing cable which breaks for 3 months at a time, often..

Tan

those in TPG group should be relatively ok. Checked Internode yesterday. Perth (84ms), Brisbane (130ms), Adelaide (120ms). There maybe be slightly more over heads from your individual premises but it seems Internode (and potentially iiNet/Tpgs) routing is good/ok to the server. Hopefully when more of the routing is sorted it will actually work out better for ANZ players.

Also let it be known we have a ANZ periphery. If we want to keep it we need to use it. If we want it to open 24/7 or at least longer? We need to use it. I know it’s very much s chicken and egg situation with the day player base. But how many people from ANZ sat purely on the SG server? This doesn’t help the ANZ server that we where all crying for years to WG about.

TPG WA 273 ping, so no it's not ok.

Tan is West Australian.

Anyway I contacted my ISP (TPG) and provided them with comparative route traces and they told me they are working on it. Then I logged in to play on ANZ and get this.

Well its seems that the ISP's have in fact been able to significantly optimise the routing and I'm now getting about 160ms on mobile (Telstra) at lunch today with minimal packet loss. Will have to see how it is at home tonight on NBN (TPG).

LOL, my ISP screwed me over AFTER fixing my routing so I had to send a tracert to Tan after all - for some reason they're now routing me through Singapore to get to HK :sceptic:.

At least I'm not being routed through Australia anymore (Telstraya, lol), so my ping's only about 10-20 ms worse than it was on SG (which is still barely within "playable" range.

But the 210 I had for a day or two on HK sure was nice! I'd like to get that back hopefully! :izmena:
