I am in Sydney with Telstra cable ... SG 100-150 ms, AU 10-50 ms and now HK 300-400 ms (from memory that's worse than the NA days) I wont be playing HK and that's a problem for our group of friends since we would use the SG server for platooning, I used the AU for tiers 9-10 which is not very often. I am not sure whether WG had foreseen any potentially issues with this move but I can see a few!

hmmmmm, getting 240ms with slight packetloss on HK, can't say I'm annoyed though, Tanitha and the gang are trying to make the game more popular and the best place to capitalise is Japan and Korea. Perhaps this is the reason why we had so many people on ANZ over the weekend (other than the T-34S missions of course).

On ANZ it's only viable to play during Peak but for some reason Peak is now at 3PM Sydney time instead of the usual 1.4k players at 8PM, maybe the influx of people are those who previously got better ping to SG but worse than HK (SG>ANZ>HK)

If you are wondering why your ping to HK is so high, you are likely being routed to NA then HK because ISPs are stupid.

My guess is those on telstra are getting unnecessarily bad routing which may be able to be optimized. So don't lose all hope yet. Fram, it may be time you abandon hope...

It will just push everyone back over to the US server, I went from 150 ping to 400 currently on the SG serve to HK r and with 100 people on the ANZ server what are we meant to do.

5 minute wait times on the AUS server for matches (during peak population), and now WG have moved the Asia server to Honk Kong, trying to squeeze a buck out of the Japanese and Chinese demographic.

Ping now sits at 250ms for Hong Kong, compared to 110ms for Singapore.

I guess that's the end of WoT for me then.

Its not hard to fix the routing when the default is Syd > NA/JP > HK instead of Syd > HK

Russian to English translation issue again

Depending on your location and ISP, latency may become slightly higher

= we hope you enjoy the 30%-500% ping increase!!!

Looks that way. 270ms from Melbourne with Bogpond.

Currently being routed Melb/Sydney/Japan/HongKong.

That is because your packets are already heading to NA.

With this move, we'll now be handling all connections in a location that services the region equally.

The below screenshot says that the above statement is a joke and just an excuse.

Sure, some regions that are geographically closer to HK will get better ping. But these regions already have good ping to other countries anyway. I have seen Taiwan replays with less ping than a Singapore player. This happens because the countries' ISPs can also choose to add to your ping depending on how oversuscribed they are and how much consumer rights in your country, and for Singapore which isn't high on the scale among first world country, I have seen ping as low as 5ms and as high as 100ms depending on which connection you use. Just to connect to WoT ASIA. Aussies probably have it worse when it comes to internet ISP.

So yeah, the above is for city to city connections without ISB bullcrap which is why it is much lower than what you actually get. But you can add or subtract the difference to your current ping.

Basically, places that are already borderlining on unplayability (pretty much most of SEA + Aussies on SG server) are going to be even worse, while players who have it good are going to get it better. And this is what WG means by "delivering better connections overall".

Let's just face it, it's due to $$$.

Are we going to be allowed to transfer our accounts over to another server due to these changes?

Just wait for your ISP to change your routing. Usually takes a few days. Or PM Tan with your Tracert. All these people suddenly getting 350ms ping, it's your ISP not WG.

Weirdly, my ping has been corrected.

It seems I'm no longer being routed through Australia and am now getting the expected 210-230 ping?

Tentatively hoping this stays as-is.

No idea why my situation would self-resolve like this?

You'll love it that my problem was that I was being routed through Telstraya.

It SEEEEEMS to be fixed. HOPING it stays this way.

Well maybe ANZ won't be such a ghost town anymore as people will be forced to play on the ANZ server onstead of SG.

Seriously, no [edited] wonder I was having problems when my Pingplotter trace done two few hours ago, showed my route as being North America -> Japan -> Sydney -> Adelaide -> Hong Kong.

It LOOKS like I'm now being properly routed straight to HK. In game ping is now 200-230, which is actually a pretty big improvement (-40ms on average).
