Look like the cable route from Australia to Singapore: INDIGO Central -> SeaMeWe 3 changes into Australia to Hongkong is: Pipe Pacific Cable 1 -> Hongkong-Guam

270 to HK and 300 to ANZ. Had 35 to SG. So basically RIP WOT for me

The worst thing is we can't even gift our accounts to others since that is against EULA.

Noobs don't snipe because they are good at snipe; noobs snipe because they can't do anything else / People don't lose because they lemming; people lemming because they are losers

Do not confuse team strength with individual strength; a single enemy killed in a 1v3 is worth more than two enemies killed in a 4v2 / Lanchester's Square Law predicts in a 2v1, the side with 2 will end with 1.5 tanks remaining, so if you won with less than that remaining, you're actually noob, not pro

When you are not losing because you outnumber the enemy, your other flank is losing because they are outnumbered; it's just math

Law of mirror: When you are holding a 1v6 against the enemy, you own team is also getting 6v1 held by the enemy

Noob self-balancing theory: When you release a good tank, enough noobs will flood to play it, until the server stats become average again

my ping with iinet in Perth is a steady 95-105 for HK?

ANZ is usually 65-75

SG was the same as ANZ

Funny how when the ping issue was raised by Au and NZ players everyone else said it made no difference to game play in clan wars etc.

Still no reasoning from WG which cause this to happen. Glad haven't spent any money yet.

maybe that's the reason server goes to the paying customers

Well I feel stupid for buying the Defender early this year.

Moral of story: Don't buy any p2w cashgrab from WG.

Given that I used to get basically the same ping to both SG and ANZ I rather suspect i am screwed no matter what server rerouting magics can be done.

Being an NZ based player the change from Singapore to Hong Kong is actually slightly better. It appears non of my ISP traffic is routed through Au any longer and leaves NZ straight to HK. I'm about 20-30ms better off and I suspect most NZ players will be in a similar position

Well since the Aus servers dead pretty much 90% of the time other than weekends and now getting an extra 130 odd ping to HK server have to say I'm sort of pissed off I took the transfer from NA last year as I'd have better ping there and way higher population.....strangely I don't think I'll be holding my breath to be allowed to desert this dead server and go back :(

My EU ping is 140 which makes me wanna transfer to EU but I have no hopes of WG letting me do that

HK ping 155ms

AUS ping 250ms

EU1 ping 150ms

EU2 ping 200ms

What's the route?  To get out of NZ the only three options are via Hawaii, Sydney to Guam, or the existing route and then jumping to Hong Kong from SG.

It was a total surprise to me that wot Asia server has just moved from Singapore to Hong Kong. This is giving me about 300 ping (vs 60 via Singapore previously), but 4.5k people playing now.  Aussie server is about 80 ping but there are 111 people playing.

This could be it for wot for me as I play mainly out of peak hours.  Just waited over 4 mins but still no game....

[This comment in another thread also but think it deserves its own topic].

Thoughts?

Tank Commanders,

We've been working hard over the past few weeks to relocate Asia's peripheral server from its former site at Singapore to Hong Kong, and we’re glad to announce that it’s finally done.

With this move, we'll now be handling all connections in a location that services the region equally.

What does this mean for me?

In truth - not much. One tiny difference is that your server choices will now be displayed as either Hong Kong or Australia, instead of the former being Singapore.

Aside from that:

  • Hong Kong shares the same timezone as Singapore, so no impact on timed events (e.g. Global Map).
  • Depending on your location and ISP, latency may become slightly higher. With that said,
    • The Australia server is still available should you wish to connect to a server nearer to your location.
    • Lesser chance of cables getting bitten by pesky sharks (we hope).

Awww what ???, WG goes and swaps servers  from Singapore to Hong Kong, just when a brand new ASC cable from perth to Singapore is due to land in the next 5 days ???? From what I have been hearing about  the ping from Aus / NZ to Hong Kong WG has finally killed off a lot of its Aus NZ players. Hopefully we in Aus and NZ can swap back to NA with the new Indigo link from NZ to the US that will have low ping.

Edited to add Logged onto ANZ periphery  196 players long que

Logged onto HK periphery 190 ms ping.

Hope ANZ improves later on tonight.
