Looking at the map, this is honestly a positive change for everyone but Indonesians/Singaporeans. Also it's a bit worse for Indo-Pakistani players but honestly there's so few of those on our server (I suspect most Indo-Pakistani WoT players play on the Russian or EU servers).

Obviously it will be a bit worse for Aussies if the Aussie server goes down, but it'll still be an improvement over going back to SG. EDIT: Apparently not.

Some good points Brutal - time will tell I guess if the influx of Aussies and Kiwis negates the exodus of the Japanese players heading for better ping in HK. I doubt we could "double the numbers" but maybe "double the amount of Aussies and Kiwis who are on board" if the difference is clear.

MM is an issue I 100% agree, however as far as I am aware it is not just an issue here (Asia/ANZ) so hopefully will get looked at "soon" since it affects EU/RU as well.

The 3/5/7 MM kills platoons IMO - one pretty decent social aspect of the game out the window. I would love to platoon more but being bottom tier time and time again gets old pretty quick, as does timing out in Q whilst trying to create some entertainment for the thousands(!) of viewers on twitch! Luckily from a social point of view clans can do count ins which can be fun trying to scalp the clan mate on the other team, but could be so much better if players and clan mates could simply play together...

Low population battles is another issue entirely - what's the answer? 5v5?

Watch this space.

You forgot to switch you Streamer / content creator MM mod on... I mean... :hiding:

no reason why we cant survive on our own IMO

depends what time of day you play. for those of us only playing when SG was populated and AU was dead, it was OK before. this might kill the game for me as I can't get a game on AU during the day, and HK is worse than SG. I realise im in the minority.

I noticed just last night that a rough average was 65% JP clients, 30% English clients and balance some VN and flags I did not recognise.

If we see an exodus of JP players from SYD server then numbers will drop to roughly 1/3 of current. Surely that would end SYD server.

Well fu very much WG.

Ping now hovering around 300 ...... was playable on SG at 150. If it's HK or 1k players on Aus server, I want my money back :/

The first 9000 were a struggle ... I have fun now.

I for one would like to know if this was brought up in the news feed on the wargaming home page ? You would think that something like this they would tell us they were changing to Hong Kong.  Bit piss poor on wargamings behalf if nothing has been said about this move . Tho i know wargaming is rather poor at letting the players know about anything now days

Probably something happen with SG server ? Since i remember sometime ago same thing happened, server just move to HK for no reason and then return to SG after sometime

I think HK server is more like back up server for WG, I guess.

Welp. This has turned out to be shit for me. I don't know what kind of routing is screwing me over, but I'm now bouncing wildly between 250 ping and 600 (usually 300 to 450 in the games I've played), when SG was previously a stable 240-280.

I don't understand this at all, seeing as how Hong Kong is thousands of kms closer to the North American connections I'm going out from.

Yay, HK is 337ms from Broome. Might as well play on NA when the ANZ pop is too low now.

Okay, so when I plot my ping, I've noticed I'm going through Telstra lines when there's literally ZERO reason my pathway should hit Oz. That means the routing is absolute garbage and I have no idea why. Is this on WG or what?

Yeah i suspect most of ANZ lose out in this, especially you westies and the NT. That is assuming you want to play a battle rather than sit in a queue most times of the day at least. At least 150ms is playable for me but by the sounds people are routing all over the shop. That may improve tho so fingers crossed i guess.
