Aim to get into spots where you can light a couple of the fighting areas and you are gold.

Seriously forget surfing ridges.

I thought this was one of the maps WG was improving by adding some more cover in the middle ridge??

i must be dreaming.

Forget about surfing ridges, just find spots where you can spot 2 of the main fighting areas and you are gold.

Arty loves shooting hts, spot them and the assist will rack up fast.

you guys r forgetting big HTs like maus if they even have scouts with even a bit of knowledge big hts would die instantly

lowkey I like it when I got a big ht on my team so when he and or she dies by the spgs I use it as a shield but still not fun cuz its a camp fest this map

It doesn't fell like a huge camp fest to me. Especially from the south spawn.

You can get a scout onto the forward edge of the big hill while the tanks crossing are still well off the hill. They will mostly stop (often drop into the north river bed) cause they are spotted and you can win that east side in a couple of minutes. Is really effective with arty or an aggressive HT driver who cuts into the town rather than the back of the hill to camp.

From there you have won the east side in a couple of minutes, the fast tanks will light any middle arty and then the middle clean up begins.

12 liners are left till last and get pincered from 2 directions.

Its harder with a north spawn because the HTs get into cover earlier.

It's generally pretty campy if both teams are mostly 50% and below players. Basically when neither teams understand basic vision.

In vanilla-land, everyone is equal. But some are more equal than others.

Man, when I go mid in a heavy (usually IS7/T-10), I feel like I get arty-blasted too quickly to do much good.

Sometimes I try to aggressively force hill or the 2 line depending on the team composition, and if I die, well, that's better than back camping the map edge of the 2 line all game.

I guess you can stay in the bowl behind the ridge and hope someone lights targets on the hill you can try and redline snipe (lol) without being spotted, but that doesn't feel much more useful.

If I have good gun depression and a good turret or good frontal armour (e.g. French conventional heavies) I will go hill even though it's a static fight because at least I can try to last longer there.

You can have massive scouting games on the hill from North, you just need to read the moment when or if  the value your vision adds needs to be anywhere else.

North spawn also has the benefit of one extra option in hugging the outside of the rail line to shoot at the hill from beyond vision range (but closer and more easily than from mid). If things go well you can push hill, the centre, keep going down the rails if other tanks broke through on the hill, or you can fall back more easily than from any other position.

You're still camping and sniping in an HT, but at least your gun will be in action and you have options.

I'd rather have at least 3 scouts on this map than 3 arty.

Did I say this map only?

I mean for all maps.

Back in the pre arty nerf/buff days there was no better feeling than jagging prok as the lone scout and heading up to the hill with 3 arty on your team!

WG have been on a bit of a crusade to make maps safer for the 'slow learners' who don't understand vision, or moving out of spawn, or not being AFK... Lakeville mid used to be far more useful being able to light anyone careless with their vision or a late mover. Malinovka scouting used to be more viable when anyone who'd alt tabbed would basically get vaporised if lit. But sadly WG seem to want to keep these sorts of players so have been making maps far less punishing of dumb plays.

Its a good business move by WG. More plyrs means profit. But they dont cater for skrub as much as ppl said they do, theres still plenty advantage off being good, so its pretty fair stuff.

They are rage, brutal without mercy. But you, you will be worse. Rip and tear until it is done.

This map is only a campfest with arty. Can't make plays without getting hit by a tank, then splashed by 3 arties then dying.

My thoughts are why the hell wait for death by a thousand cuts when you can get in there and try to make something happen?

The east half of the map is the place where this is easiest to get done. If I'm gonna get bashed by arty, then by God i'm gonna make them work for it. :playing:
