If you're just starting (as in from tier 2) on the Russian TDs, then its simple:

  1. Find a bush, sit behind it until you can't see through the bush yourself. Hit tanks your "teammates" spot.
  2. Front towards the enemy.
  3. Fully aim your shots, unless you're feeling lucky.
  4. Come back and ask again once you reach the crossroads at tier 6 SU-100.

Owned Tier 10s: Obj 907, IS-7, Obj 140, M60, M48A5 Patton, STB-1, WZ-111 5A, 113, Centurion Action X, Super Conqueror, Badger

Camo net, binocs, rammer and don't get spotted. 6th sense is a must on the commander so use one of the Christmas girls to bring campy happiness to your Stalin approved poohtato shooter.

Once you get to the point where your gun is big and derpy change over to GLD, rammed and vents and send capitalists to the gulag to hit those cross map shots and learn how to peek a boom.

Then 268 vers 4 and do what ever you want.....:playing:

Camouflage Net, Binoculars, Gun Rammer on the TD's with 'reasonably-sized guns' up to maybe 122mm (tier 2 up to the SU-100, SU-101, or SU-152 with the 122mm gun). Don't get spotted. 6th sense is a must on the Commander; use one of those girls WG gave us last month if you don't have a Commander with 6th sense, and train her in 6th sense.

Once you get to a point where your gun is large and clumsy (starting from Obj. 263, SU-152 with the 152mm howitzer up to the tier X'es), use Enhanced Gun Laying Drive, Gun Rammer, and Vents. Hit enemies from afar, or if you have to brawl, make sure to do it when enemies arent looking and move back behind cover after firing.

And 268v4 is a do-anything-you-want TD.

You are going to have to narrow down your range to a nationality, tier or a specific tank. TDs range from small fast scouts to heavily armored but slow bunker busters.

I like the sound of bunker busters

I'm not good enough to give a lot of tips and haven't tried Russian TDs at all, but I find having Designated Target a god send on my Hellcat. Having an extra two seconds to hold the shot while pulling back and then letting the bloom shrink makes spotting my own targets heaps easier.

concealment is a must skill for all your crew also recon and situational awareness as view range is important, for your driver i would also do off-road driving and then clutch braking as you are a fixed turret td and you need every little bit of help turning when they get in close.

Train up camo as a first skill on your TDs, reset to get BIA and do camo again. On heavier TDs train up repairs instead. Playstyle for TDs varies - you can play close up or from a distance, depending on your armour and confidence. Keep positioning yourself to where you can support the majority of your team, as they won't do the same for you. Remember to double bush when shooting.

What about something like the Jagdpanther II which I bought recently? It has 100mm or so of frontal armour, which isn't that much for tier VIII, but can bounce shots if you're lucky. Brawl or snipe? I have to say it's surprisingly nimble for something of its size. I only have the 10.5 cm carry-over from the Jagdpanther on there at the moment.

You get mobility in the 704.

If you want armour then you would end up with something like the T95, extremely slow where the battle is often over by the time you get to it.

There was a time that you hulldown in it and be reasonably shellproof.

Then WG nerfed the gun mantlet. Then ASIA shifted to goldspam meta, which is just enough to perforate your superstructure. Powercreep? Perhaps...
