After many years of waiting, the US tech tree is finally getting its first tier 8 premium TD, the TS-5

Stat wise it almost seems OP; thick armour, good health pool, decent speed for a 60ton tank, brilliant 2,824 DPM and 1.8sec aim time. Tough the accuracy does leave a lot to be desired, but I feel that's just there to try and push the tank into close range brawling since brawling TD's are apparently the best meta in WGs mind *cough*bobject*cough*.

However, on second glance it's not really that OP. I mean, when was the last time anyone called the T28 OP?

Premium ammo is HEAT compared to the T28's APCR

It's not just in the stats, the TS-5 looks strikingly like the T28. Naturally there are differences such as in the engine deck and the lack of a second cupola, along with what appears to be some spaced armour over the tracks to help protect against HE and HEAT.

Overall this looks like a nice tank that I for one will be adding to my collection. Though I do question if we need something so similar to the T28 as a premium... but on the other hand I'm amazed that WG are releasing a premium that's actually close to being historically accurate :sceptic:

Depending on the LFP and cupola it won't perform much differently to the current T28

Also the spaced armour does not seem to cover the crucial front drive sprocket.

Not like shooting that will provide any damage to the tank tough, much like on the T28/T95 it can be used to bait shots by the lesser informed players (seriously people, stop shooting it, it doesn't do anything)

I guess their loot box sales didn't meet target. They probably should have given the is3a an extra shell.

Looks alright, i see they tried to balance it by lowering its engine power and giving it better gun stats/a lil bit of frontal armour. Look i'd still take this over the tech tree equivalent but at least its not IS-3A/Defender-esk OP.

Can't really complain here :coin:

Looks like they just welded M103's turret into the hull.

Btw oot a bit, is T110E4 line any good? I just notice a severe lack of TD in my garage.

I can kinda see that, though the TS-5 was designed before the M103. Fun fact; the TS-5 was one of 4 designs, the others being the TS-2, TS-6 and TS-31 with the TS-31 later being chosen to be further designed into the T110 series

As for the E4, it's not a bad tank. Since you play HT a lot I would def suggest it. Once you get to the T28 Proto the line turns into more second line HT then TD. T30 is good, especially if you like the T29/T34

This is a casemate tank, so I'm not thinking of damage, but tracking.

It's fine. Just play it like other snipers like the T28, T95, Type 4/5 Heavy :P

my sub 6 sec repair time on my T95 doesn't really care much for tracking... Though I understand that people don't put as much emphasis on repair speed then other stats like I do. There's also repair kits as a back up if need

TS-5 looks like a better T28. Gun is rather insane, armour difference completely negligible.

Will stay tuned for further stets and armour model.

The only thing noticeably better is the top speed. Will defs update when all stats/armour model are available though.

At least we're not getting a TS-5 A. Or do we?

"Strangely, despite Wargaming's claim that they found a secret note that an autoloader was planned for TS-5, no such claim ever mentioned by Hunnicutt in his 'Firepower' book, and certainly I has find no such document during my previous visit to archives..."

Though the TS-5 was planned to get a smoothbore gun... which may explain the terrible accuracy

That's kind of a must for a T95, but not everyone knows to do that.

You running a Dirty toolbox, or just a regular one?

What kind of repair speed would you get with toolbox + large repair kit?
