Though the TS-5 was planned to get a smoothbore gun... which may explain the terrible accuracy

A 105mm smoothbore at that. TS-31 did get the right gun, 120mm, but that had a yuuge T110 cupola.

That said, does it get a "2nd LFP" weakspot like the 286v4, or is the LFP weakspot that large tongue reaching upwards to lick the gun mantlet?

it's the large tongue reaching upwards to like the gun mantlet.. as you put it, same as on the T28

immobile turretless TD - very much situational and more or less useless. 3 x Batchat Arty says hello as you make a mad 26km/hr run across a shooting lane. Looking forward to seeing this in your(not my) garage.

Yes, because 3x arty will be so devistating in the numerous corridor city maps. Besides, my T28 HTC, T28 and T95 all laugh at the useless efforts of arty and the TS-5 wont be any different

I actually really like the T28 HTC.

Anyway, we have more stats, namely the all important terrain resistance and camo values... which are a straight copy/paste off the T28 (who would have guessed?). Though there is a bigger difference in the gun with the standard AP round having a lower shell velocity, and where the T28 uses APCR as its special ammo, the TS-5 will be loading HEAT.

Stat comparison has been updated in OP. Still no damage model yet

I'm highly suspicious of what the soft stats will be and also that the armour model will end up making it stupidly OP.

WG have made no effort to back off the "power-creep Premium" wagon so why expect anything less than continued silliness from this offering?

The only *possible* reason it may not be outright OP is that it's not Russian... however it IS still premium so has to fold into the current RU and Premium meta.

Its not Russian, furthermore its American. Cannot be -more- OP compared to Russian premium, right comrade?

Like, see T26E5. Its a very good premium compared to T32. But when you compare it to Defender and IS-3A, it looked pretty standard.

Back to World of Tanks for now.

It's great, isn't it? Remove the autoloader from the SP 1C, but introduce tanks like the IS-3A (and T32A on console) into the game.

Heaven's forbid if one were to continue to have fun in a German light tank. It would disrupt the perfectly balanced ecosystem WG painstakingly crafted.

T28 is way lower though; TS-5's weakspot is larger, significantly so.

And I concur: T28 HTC is really fun

AP at 860m/s will feel sloppy, while HEAT will be swallowed by IS-3 tracks.  Doesn't look too much of CW material to me like an E3, except for the odd strat that requires a T28.

It will come down to the thickness of it and just how angled it is. If it's gone similar effective thickness to the T28 I wouldn't be too concerned.

The shell velocity I feel is up there with the accuracy as a means to try and force it into that close range role. I did take a second look at that stat comparison from WoT Express and noticed some of the stats being better. Namely just gun stats. I draw this down to the initial release being the standard 50% crew. This does also give it tied second highest DPM of any tier 8 TD at 2,945. That's the same DPM as the Jagdtiger 8.8 and close to the ISU-130's 2,977.

Keeping in mind that it has 248/300/60 pen as opposed to the 212/237/44 on the Jagd 8.8 and 215/187/65 on the ISU

^If it's better armor-wise and DPM-wise than AT 15, then that's rage-worthy.

Well, I would be inclined to say it's already going to be better armoured then the AT 15. It's already got better DPM by nearly 100. Takes 0.1 sec longer to aim then the AT 15 (though it lacks the accuracy of 0.29. It's also faster with a better power to weight and terrain resistances
