None of the above.

Save free-exp for researching modules, not tanks. It will make grinds less frustrating if you can unlock key equipment with free exp.

I can only speak for the T28 Prot since it's the only one I have. The stock grind is terrible without the top gun so if you plan to get it, save your free exp. Really I only want to play it to the T30 because even though the armor is good, it's not amazing. And the surprisingly low hp will disappoint you and be less bold with your thick front.

But which tank you want boils down pretty much to which you think will be most fun to play. Grille is a sniper with the best accuracy in the game, and is also an endgame tank so it will never be bottom tier and your went have to unlock anything from it, but driving it may be expensive.

ISM I've heard is an unfun tank to play because of its soft stats, but whenever I go up against a sidescraping one, it's a very tough nut to crack. Get it if you like sidescraping.

And the T28 Prot is a 2nd line HT, plain and simple. It can dish out great damage fully upgraded but after driving it for a bit, I tend to not try to take the hits if I can. I'll probably just wait for the "special ammo" update haha

Current meta would be fast heavy hitting armored tanks, which in your case only the ism fits the meta. Although it isn't fast it makes up for being Russian. In a way the t28 prot is a slow hard hitting tank. A tank which I think is for lazy people *cough cough* Artillery prevents camping !

If Grille is your first tier 10 tank, then get ready to face some serious HE shells. In all honesty in tier 10 battles players are skilled enough to switch to HE when they spot a Grille. If camping is your occupation I'd say, go for it just for the bragging rights of owning a tier 10 tank. You could even stomp some lower tiers along the way. Since you won't have anything to upgrade as it comes with the Elite status, you can get away with not having to play it stock when compared to the other tanks you mentioned.

In the end, What ever floats your boat mate.

I found the T28 to be fine WITH TOP MODULES and the T30 is just good times memes, though I admit I haven't played all that well in either, they were and are FUN.

LT-playing masochist. It's too much fun to be a mosquito.

Oddly enough, both tanks are workable. T28 Proto as a support / second line HT, and will bully IS-6 and Alpine Tigers easily. T28 has more armor and HP, able to hold corridors better.

TL;DR: Proto = offense, T28 = defense
