It's time to pick CW rewards, and the Chieftain is a prime candidate for top spot. The way I see it, it's basically a mix between the Super Conqueror and the 277. It has the strengths of both, but fills neither role quite as well.

-Fuckton of gun depression lets it work ridges like a Super Conq.

-Turret armor is stupidly good. It doesn't have the HE weakness of the Super Conq, or the turret cheek weakspot. No cupola helps as well.

-Gun is in between the 277 and Super Conq. Decent handling, decent alpha, decent DPM. Neither best nor worse in any of those regards.

-Solid mobility. It has similar hp/t, terrain resists and traverse as the fast heavies, but a slightly worse top speed of 46 hurts.

-The gun seems nice, but really isn't the best. 5a has alpha and DPM, Super Conq has handling and even more DPM. It's a very jack-of-all trades gun, even by the standards of jack-of-all trades guns. It can't fill the Super Conq's damage dealing role or the 5a's brawling roll as well. Meh alpha and meh DPM.

-Autobounce UFP is nice, but not when HEAT shells eat you for breakfast.

-Even amongst generalist heavies, it doesn't specialise. Like, at all. It can't sit in a position, live for ages and do damage like a Super Conqueror, nor can it rush into position and brawl like a 277.

-Arty's gonna shit all over your roof.

The question is, are its strengths good enough that there's a compelling reason to pick this over, say the VK or 907? Is there any point getting this tank, if you can get almost the same feeling from playing a 5a/277/Super Conq? Will it be CW meta? I think it has enough of a niche role that picking 2 or 3 on certain maps would work, but I doubt it's got enough distinguishing features to set itself apart from a very well-defined and competitive niche set by strong tanks like the 277 and Super Conqueror.

Any thoughts?

A weird thing I noticed is that the t95/Fv is actually really small.
This is makes the cupola and ufp much easier to hit as it doesn't tower over you like an Sconq does.

I also noted how the turret is placed very central on the tank.
Perhaps it won't be as comfortable working a ridge line as its forward turreted counterparts.

I wonder how intuitive sidescraping will be considering the middle turret placement

Well, so far first battle with both teams having one Chieftain, I can say that the armor isn't invincible.

Also, extremely horrible hull traverse in mud. Not that I remember what other HTs' are.

Noobs don't snipe because they are good at snipe; noobs snipe because they can't do anything else / People don't lose because they lemming; people lemming because they are losers

Do not confuse team strength with individual strength; a single enemy killed in a 1v3 is worth more than two enemies killed in a 4v2 / Lanchester's Square Law predicts in a 2v1, the side with 2 will end with 1.5 tanks remaining, so if you won with less than that remaining, you're actually noob, not pro

When you are not losing because you outnumber the enemy, your other flank is losing because they are outnumbered; it's just math

Law of mirror: When you are holding a 1v6 against the enemy, you own team is also getting 6v1 held by the enemy

Noob self-balancing theory: When you release a good tank, enough noobs will flood to play it, until the server stats become average again

load HE and shoot them at back or side, 277 HE do 657 damage to back of new meta lol

In the moment when I truly understand my enemy, understand him well enough to defeat him, then in that very moment I also love him.

more than 400 new vehicles are still planned for World of Tanks

Yes and you couldn't have described one of the biggest problems in this game more succinctly.

You forgot to add to "Then be out of ammo" after the "Dump 3000 damage every minute" for the E6.

I havent played my chieftain yet, nor played tier10 heavies to fight against chieftains head-on. What im interested to know is: how good is the upper plate against 330-340 heat? I see from tanks.gg that on level ground it looks like the upper plate is ~350,but in practise how much are the pen-to-bounce ratios exactly?
