To me the main issue is that there is no way WG can meet our expectations given their refusal to disclose what (if any) actions were taken. As someone who is reporting someone else, you already know their name, you already know what the person did, to me it doesn't in any way impinge on the drowners' privacy to know what punishment they received. To have that element kept private derails much of the process from a fair player's perspective. Further, and especially when support suggest using the in game system, it leads to a fairly justifiable belief that absolutely nothing is happening. Backed up by how common deliberate drowning continues to be.

Simple fix.  If you drown you get zero XP for the battle.

On the relatively rare occasions where you’re drowned by the enemy tough luck.
Reading is hard...

It's even easier than that though. If you drown yourself or self-immolate it says you died by your own hand. If an enemy drowns you they get the credit so you shouldn't get 0. It does leave the games where you just [edited]-up but as you say a small price to pay for pulling a Bazza.

I had a novelty one the other day where the SPG had clearly decided his team wasn't winning or he didn't like the map or something so drove down the middle road on Karelia in his LefH from spawn. No one will be surprised to know he was an ANZ clanned player playing on AU.

Just got a similar response from support suggesting i use the in game complaint system - and that's basically 3 weeks after yours. Not reassuring at all.

Further, one of the reported players who is seen in the supplied replay clearly and deliberately drowning his arty at the end of a battle, played his last battle AFTER the ticket was closed with 'appropriate action taken'. Plain and simple this is an extremely poor reflection on WG, from both the efforts of the support staff involved, and your attempts to clean up your game.

These people are breaking the rules and you are not punishing them.

WG people, can you provide any detail on what actions are being taken? I hope this is just a training issue for support rather than a policy change to make drowning / suicides legal.

Hey Ezz,

The rules were updated for a reason. Behavior like this against the rules and there has been no change in policy from our end, players who drown themselves in battle face the same escalation-style sanction system that is used across the manual reporting system.

I will follow up with support to ensure this rule set is being upheld from our end. In the meantime, if you could DM me with the ticket numbers of incidents/examples where you believe the proper actions have been taken I would appreciate it (that goes for Le Sigh/all of you btw).

Thanks Jay, will PM ticket number of the most recent.

Part of the problem is that we have to have faith punishments are being carried out based on the intended process. That faith however is eroded significantly with support responses that reference the in game complaint systems and hence appear more like a fob than action based. It doesn't help that, at least anecdotally, the rate of drowning / suicides doesn't appear to be subsiding.

Clearly letting us know what actions are being taken is also against process, but as a compromise would it be possible to publish lists of how many drowners / suicides were warned / banned as that used to get published for those using illegal mods?

If it's escalated sanctions then one incident should just see a 'hey, let's try not to do that'. It's the recidivists that need a lesson.

Because you are robbing the enemy team and players of XP, it's not rocket science.

It's a game!  often we just want to get over this game and get to the next one - it's not rocket science! the game is going downhill fast and takes itself far too seriously. If a player wants to lose exp by jumping in the sea at the end let them.

Oh jolly good, that reminds me, got two drowners yesterday. Best submit so support can do type me some stuff.

Hmm well we all have out POV but are we creating a 'snitching culture'?  who cares if someone kills themselves if they are last man standing - i don't - it's a pixel tank game. AFK's are far worse IMHO. Anyway I know WG won't care what I think and the game is sliding. Cheers.

No, its bad sportsmanship and generally piss poor form. So is the "I save time" excuse. What? A whole 5 seconds? Do you jump up and flip the Monopoly board when you start losing as well?

Snitching culture vs culture of piss weak sportsmanship. If only wg would do something so the snitches weren't required.

Would crediting the kill (and hit points) to the nearest player work?
Trying to think simply here...

It would help but not really discourage it imo. A simple adjustment to repair costs could do it. And or just give them a warning for first time then zero credits / xp on subsequent drownings / suicides within a set time period.

Take xp earned and distribute between the opposing teams top 5 players, and triple repair costs on the suicided player.

WoT is becoming more pc by the week. Many of us rarely play these days. As for Monopoly if one player is very much ahead it is usual for the other to concede (as with Chess etc.) and there should be  a way to surrender as would happen in 'real' life. Anyway Im wasting my breath I know - good luck!

it's a WG issue to deal with it (after 8/9 years?) not players run and tell Mommy.

Agree Ezz, if it could be implemented similar to the blue/team damage system or abandoning game (hitting escape and return to garage) that would be ideal.

Playing by the rules and good sportsmanship has got nothing to do with political correctness.

For all the whining about political correctness, the game is rated PG-13 and the rules are written to reflect that. A game rated R would have much different rules.
