Why would you trade something you have paid for in for half of its value(ok, its pixels so value is subjective).  Trade in benefits nobody who plays the game.

Allows players with "buyers regret" to get something back for a tank they no longer play I guess.

Not so dumb to be throwing more money after buying something I decide I don't like.  I repeat,  the trade in system benefits nobody who plays the game.  It benefits Wargaming.

Its got nothing to do with the amount of money one has to spend.  Its about the value represented.  Trading premium tanks is poor value.

You have a really weird view of economics.

Once you have spent the money its gone. A sunk cost.

The pixel tanks however is an "asset" which you can use to half the cost of a replacement tank which you will be buying for real money.

If you don't like the first one, but can get one which you think you will like for half price then trading in represents real value.

I traded in my T28HTC for 3500 gold and bought a Lowe. Random tier 6 sentinel I was never going to play turned into a STRV S1. Absolutely zero regrets. Probably will do the same with the Excalibur and Chimera and a frontline reward tank if I can be bothered to get past prestige 1, and if there is anything else worth trading in for.

With no depreciation in game the value of the asset is the original cost.  So to trade for half its value is a poor deal.

I think the first line was his reply to basil, the second to me. Even though my comment was directed to basil, not him.

Really, so you can sell it back to WG for the full price can you?

Your thinking would do the ENRON's of the world proud. Books full of worthless assets is what caused the 07 financial crisis when people suddenly realised the real worth which was a lot less than the accounting "value".

Unless you sell your account to someone else, any pixel tanks are worth zero from a financial perspective because you cannot sell it back to WG. Things are only worth what someone will give you for them.

WG will give you nothing for the account, the money you have given them is gone. What is the next best option?

If you want to keep the account then trading in something you don't use or want to get a discount on something you do want is the best value you can extract from it. Hence it is really worth something, and the best value you can extract.

Heh cashies will give you 30%...….EB games are pretty stingy with their trades too. If you look at the market it's not the worst deal in town.

TLDR: off-topic because beer

Funny Topic; I remember way back in the 16bit console days, there was a store in Brisbane where you could trade in mega-drive cartridges. They had a 5 tier coloured grading scale where you could get up to 80% of the original value based on release date and popularity.

This was pretty boss as a kid earing 10 bucks a week pocket money, because cartridges would average between $80-100 in the early 90's during economic recession. My old man had the best cut lawns and shiniest car south of the river, and I was a ninja taking out the bins...….
