The frontline game mode clearly shows how the meta tanks have changed since the introduction of wheeled vehicles.

HT are resigned to playing from afar as no longer can they move up to head a push with simply armour (for whatever that is worth these days).

Trying to play a HT on HK frontlines? Forget it.

The FL mode is now the domain of wheeled vehicles, borasque or LT's with a few competitive meds (Progetoo).

With a HT the only real contender is the E75TS with its enhanced mobility akin to a MED.

In a HT between the wheelies buzzing around the constant spotting and if your tracked if the SPG don't get you then the airstrikes and artillery sure will.

Thinking of playing a HT on HK FL forget it.

Not sure what you mean, I still run plenty of HT.

E75TS, IS-3A, Obj 703, Defender, Mutant, Somua, Emil 1951 just to name a few.

Maybe you might enjoy playing them more on ANZ?

Often start with a heavy for either Defence or attack and finish when defending the objectives.

I'm averaging 900 XP from using HT, does using MT work better?

Hmmmm, just had 2 FL games with the E75TS and got Major both times (highest I have ever got in FL).  Never played it before but it seems to be a reasonable HT (well it has a reasonably good gun - even with a zero skill crew)

True a lot of this is HK based experience with the resultant latency issues. I do try for AU server but as a working man with long days, especially right now, and an older man I have trouble getting in more than one or two games in an evening before having to get some rest as an early riser. My point generally is in regard to you move forward in a HT the cap gets captured and your speed does not allow you to retreat safely in time out of the zone so you are forced to stand and fight until the bombardment gets you.

Also the deterence  of SPG, Artillery and air strikes knocking the tracks off once you are tracked by a player, plus those pesky wheelies that your turret can't even keep up with. Like SPG the number of wheelies in each front should be restricted and the number in game in total limited.

Their ability to change fronts rapidly gives them another edge of the lumbering HT that are forced to pick wisely and then remain fairly stagnant.

Ahh, right, I keep forgetting the point of FL is not to defend the objectives with HTs.

EDIT: 3 captains in a row later i've dropped past the 800 XP mark.

Think the problem is not with the HT tank type, but rather the game design. Here we have a game mode where to win requires people to continuously suicide tanks into the cap, yet it also has a 5-minute respawn wait. I have started seeing weird sh*ts like Progettos - lots of them - sniping, on an attack.

well i enjoyed it when i see all team sniping so ill spotting with my hts for them

In the moment when I truly understand my enemy, understand him well enough to defeat him, then in that very moment I also love him.

more than 400 new vehicles are still planned for World of Tanks

Good question but clearly it is not based on damage caused :P

i believe damage dealt by spotting for yourself generates more XP than damage assisted.

The formula must be something similar to random battles, damage spotting for yourself generates 100% xp, while damage assisted generates 50% of xp of that dealt damage. So if you dealing damage while someone else is ocasionally spotting even though you are within the view range sometimes unfortunaly someone who is 10m closer to the enemy than you and have more view range and the enemy has more camo ratings than you think you cause your damage dealt to be worth only 50%~ of that damage dealt instead of the full 100%.

Hence sometimes the XP will be lower even if you think you are spotting for your own but in reality someone else is. Blame the EBRs and those persk light tanks and those arty players with STUN MECHANICS...

WG wonders why this game mode is so unpopular and triggers people - wheelies and Airstrikes/Artillery - that is all this game mode is about - the team with more of these - wins - nothing else.  Its no longer a tank on tank battle game.  (Just have to look at the number of players that drop out after the first Cap)

What is it with WG and artillery?  Players keep complaining about it so they simply keep adding it, making it stronger - do they think this will magically increase the number of people playing this game?  This is supposed to be a player v player game - that's NOT what arty is.

Quality team - Attackers didn't even get to D, E and F.  Highest rank on the winning team - Capt.  Wow so many clueless people out there.

Does anyone actually play FL because they enjoy it or just to grind credits?  In my current game, 50% of the attacking team have left the game....

It's late in the week. Those that understand how to frontline will have finished already.

Its not that HTs are irrelevant - its that non Russian HTs are irrelevant.  WG tweaked the Artillery to ensure that Russian HTs are less impacted - not other nation HT's
