Is my maths wrong? it takes 4300 points to complete each section of this mode and with the changes to the mission rewards the maximum points you can get is 4200, if you do not place in the top 5 at some point. This is getting all of the rewards over 7 days.
This will make it impossible for the average scrub (me) to get the maximum tokens needed to get a reward tank from the steel hunter mode on its own.
Am i wrong here? Or is this just a money grab or error on the part of WG.
How many flipping posts do I need to get past Major?
Sounds about right for wg to do that. Not sure i see how it's a money grab tho. The mode is free. But honestly, if you aren't ever getting top 5, maybe not getting max rewards is fair enough.

To answer your points Ezz
it is a money grab if they sell you the tokens at the end of the year.
The whole mode is based upon you getting reward vehicles not just rewards. To make the system unattainable is unethical.

They haven't sold the tokens before and there has been no hint that they will so you are making a leap (based on current knowledge) that they would - effectively - sell a tier 9 for cash.
I mean we all expect them to sell tier 9s for cash at some point, don't get me wrong, but changing this mechanic to do so seems unlikely even for a company as cynically money-grabbing as WG have become.

They changed the mode from being an easy mindless grind into one that needs a bit more ability. Not sure that is anything about ethics.

To do that grind, you will also have had to achieve min 22,500 dmg a day. Not sure what the average player dmg is, but by statement that you're mostly bottom 15 i'd say average 2,000 dmg a game (obv sometimes more, sometimes less). That means 11 battles a day. Times 7 is 77 battles.
I think you'd have to be extremely bad - and incredibly unlucky - to not get top 5 in some of those 77 battles.

Well, it's definitely more of a grind.
Half the points. 1.5 the dmg reqd = 3 x the grind. Plus maximum direct grind points per day is halved.

The first time it took 20 battles, so guess they had to make it more comparable to FL.
And of course they are mainly worried people are grinding it too fast and not how Raven is still overpowered.

Firstly thankyou for all of the beta testers (moderator) and associated clan members for taking the time to comment on my criticism on War Gaming's changes to the Steel Hunter mode.
Secondly my point is for the average player (by stats you are all classed as above average or better) no matter how hard you try if you do not make it into the winners circle the grind is impossible to complete based on mission rewards alone. Front line mode was always achievable with enough commitment to the mode.
Whether you or i can do it is not my overall point. By changing the rules mid mode it discourages the broader community from taking part.

If every battle is 100% skill-based, then yes, bad players will never win.
However World of Tanks is not a 100% skill-based game, evident from the fact that bots can win 40% of games in randoms. Also winrate in randoms is not a reflection of skill anyway, according to some people.
I get bottom 5 sometimes too, even if I get top 5 more often than bottom 5. Due to how probability and statistics work, if we put 20 players of the same skill together, you will get into top five in 5 out of 20 battles. Your position for each battle is a probability distribution centered at your skill level and a range that depends on other's skill level and luck. The probability of getting top5 or bottom5 is never zero no matter how good or bad you are.
If you think you are a bad player, maybe try playing the French and keep running away?

...or there is easier mode where you play platoons which has
A, 5% more players rewarded each game and
B, You can be a complete passenger if even one player in your platoon is competent enough to be in the final 3 platoons.
