First of all...I'm playing on the Asia server again so please don't lock my thread, Wasaabi.

Now to the topic.

I'm a bad player...a really really bad player(40 percenter) and I have a lot of trouble playing normally when most players on bother teams are camping and ready to wreck me the moment I go out of cover.

So I figured that instead of trying to play normally, I'd be better off camping too(for now only...not a permanent fix)

And I tried that today but I realised that I suck at camping too.

Either I get very very low damage or I get killed because some invisible light tank spots me when I'm double bushed.

So how do I camp properly. And still do something. I don't like sitting around...waiting for a red to find me and then start firing. I would very much like to fire before the red gets to me.

Any advice?

Your strategy depends on your 1v1 skill level and whether you want to improve on that or go a support role. How do you perform in Steel Hunter?

1. Drive in the open.

2. Get shot.

3. Use the position the one shot you used.

4. Get shot.

5. If not yet ragequitted, GOTO 3

Or you could play arty and pretend it requires some skill.

I'd strongly suggest watching a few twitch streamers to pick up tips on positions and early game tactics.

Every map plays differently for every tank class, so without a proper idea on what you 'should' be doing you're setting up for disaster.

Any of the ANZ or ASIA CCs should be a great help to you, as the server meta varies immensely.

Being a 40%er at 500 battles is a bit different from being a 40%er at 5000 (or 50,000) battles, so don't be too harsh on yourself... yet.

What sort of tanks do you have available? What tiers? Are there any you feel you're doing better in? Check the stats - you may be doing worse or better than you think in particular tanks. This can help to measure your strengths and weaknesses.

Lemmingrush on Twitch and Youtube gives excellent advice, and explains why he does what he does comprehensively. A good place to start with (tanks 101).

ANZ/ASIA CC's pepelaugh.

You learn way more from any EU CC.

I suspect you're still building crew skills. As your crew skills get better you'll be better able to engage enemy players, who often have good crew skills.

For now, just keep playing low tiers, which both builds crew skills and you'll learn other tactics as you play. Look for opportunities. Camping bushes isn't the best way, and as you see you can still get spotted unawares as you build your skills and knowledge.

low tiers is terrible lol. You dont get skills from playing against even worse players. Playing against harder/better players (debatable) is better.

tds are all about vision and lines of fire, its nice when you have tanks to spot for you but its better if you can see for your self

so what you want to do is have your tanks inside your spotting circle and the enemy tanks outside of it but in your view/draw range and you need to balance this with actually being able to shoot things.double bush is nice penetration is better

For real now tho. If u want to improve, don’t camp. Sure you’ll get a lot of bad games at first but that’s normal.

And fight at a disadvantage? The result is obvious and already shown.

At least in low tiers you're building your crew skills, cash, xp, map awareness, and tactics. And you still get enough good players that you can look at/consider how they did things without being so disadvantaged that you don't know how you lost.

I don't know how QB streams, but everybody needs to start somewhere, like you can't throw a kindergarten kid into a university lecture.

For example a pro streamer may not explain why he is not sidescraping because it blocks the teammate from fighting effectively and just causes the enemy to shoot the teammate instead

A normal streamer my sidescrape without explaining what it is

A bad streamer will say something like "I'm going to do what is called a pro-gamer move: Sidescraping!" "My team is dead while I still have half HP and 500 damage, wt* noobs"

However to the newcomer, the bad streamer is the only one who explained what sidescraping is.

Of course once you get better, the way you play has to evolve. I remember helping to teach a guy via platooning and he was sniping in Abbey, I told him to get into the fight, but he said he snipes because a streamer taught him to.

And how to spot when to change your playstyle? When you realize you are winning more than the streamer. And here is why I find streamers who pad their stats or fake their stats (like his recent WR is way better than what actually happens when he streams, as if he is doing something different when he is not streaming... I wonder what...) doing a disservice to the playerbase, because they are giving people the wrong impression. Of course people who forget to... erm... turn off their... erm... *something* are even more disservice to the playerbase, ain't that right, *******?

I play tier 4-5
I started from 75 percent crews and all tanks are at about 80-90
I've watched a whole lot of YouTube videos on how to improve
I've tried playing all tank classes(I hate arty so haven't played that a lot)
Tanks-kv1,t1,M4 sherman, pz 4 h, su85, stug3b, Luchs, amx 40, ikv103(the tier 5 one)
And I can't make any of these work...except the Luchs...sometimes(600-800 damage games is the best I can do in this one)
The thing is that I was actually doing fine on the EU server(50 percent winrate and blue WN8)
So idk what I'm doing wrong on this server.
