Learn better positioning for artillery.

If you want to stay in a position that can't support your team, its your loss, move and you can support anywhere on the map

This comment is obviously from someone who doesn't play arty enough to know what they're talking about. First, "You can support anywhere on the map." No, you can't. SPGs don't drop bombs vertically from the sky like B-29s. And there are many SPG vehicles that don't have entire-map range ... For example the British line of the Bishop, FV207, Crusader, etc.

Second, "Just reposition yourself." You try repositioning to follow the battle in a vehicle that has no armor, moves slowly, and is a one-shot kill to anyone who spots you. There are many maps in the game (e.g. Paris, Himmelsdorf) where the areas you can both shoot from and hit anybody are extremely few and the distances between them huge. And even when you're in one of them, 3/4 of the enemy tanks spotted on the map aren't eligible to you as targets because of building cover.

Sure, there are some arties that are quite mobile, like the M44, M53/50 and some of the French guns, but most can't wheel around the battlefield without it being suicide (realistically) ... especially true for the rural maps with wide-open vistas that favor the TD sniper.

SPGs stay put not because they want to or because they're lazy, but just to stay alive.

Your comment is true, but it's just as true for other support vehicles like TDs, or meds. Similarly, it also applies to other tanks that take corners. While primarily heavies, I've seen meds and others doing similar.

Unfortunately there are many noobs who do this, or just are greedy for damage rather than trying to win. And the outcome of early death for them is not uncommon as they push into multiple enemies and their support vehicles, while disregarding the same support they could have had on their own team.
