Yes sure, you get a full refund of what you pay for the tank.
As a bonus you get to keep the crew with BIA, garage slot and 25 x 5xp missions.
 

The 5 XP missions are great if you are working on grinding field mods or just grinding crew skills.

 

Edit: on the event page it says

I'm purchasing all the tanks I already have just for all the 5xp missions 

Can't  beat that for a zero cost

Unless it's changed this year, it's not zero cost (and from the wording it's the same this year).

 

The tank cost is refunded - but the cost for the garage slot isn't, which is 300 gold. 

 

So you have to weigh up whether those are worth it to you for the cost.

Just did it for the HWK and 4930 was refunded - so net cost was 155 gold for the garage slot and 25 x5XP missions. Yes crew came as well which is worth nothing to me as I already have a LT German crew for the tank. Not BIA crew though as someone mentioned earlier. Still a bargain

Don't mind getting garage slot already have 41 that are empty as for the crew they will be spare for a future LT

Still, 25 x 5XP missions for under $1 is still worth it for me.

I mean, you're still turning your money into WG Gold, so if you don't actually need gold, there's that to consider.

 

EDIT: And I'm sure we're all about to buy at least a couple loot boxes for decoration sharts, which will mean most of us will already be buying plenty of gold soon.
