It used to be fairly rare to see a tank explode at the end of a match with the message about them being removed, but now I'm seeing these pretty regularly,sometimes on my time, sometimes on the other.
Anyone else notice this?

That's different. If you disconnect during battle, you can rejoin if you can reconnect.
This explosion only occurs and requires that the player has chosen the option to 'leave battle' during the game, and accept the warning when they do that.
When they choose leave battle, even if they then disconnect and reconnect, they can't rejoin the battle afterwards.

You need to be in game when the game ends.
Your recent survival rate is 3% so shows you continue your approach of dying early, which is why you don't see this.
